What do you think of F.R.E.D?????
Just got off the phone with John @Nitrous Warehouse and stated that F.R.E.D was the best N20 controller on the market. I was just wondering if anyone has tried F.R.E.D and what did they think. Also what did you pay for the unit. John stated it runs for $499.99 is that a good price? Also how hard was it to install F.R.E.D? Let me know what you guys think..Thanks..Michael

From what I know, it's just a N20 controller? But, the name alone would persuade me not to get it

"just an F.Y.I F.R.E.D is made by NX "
Not exactly...
NX sells & markets the "Maximizer"...I didn't like the name.
I sell & market "F.R.E.D."...$499.00
They are both designed & manufactured by the same company.
Both units are designed to be upgradable.
BTW..."F.R.E.D." is an anacronym for "F***ing Ridiculous Electronic Device"...it's an old "engineering" term

Of course he did, he designed it and he's trying to sell it to you. Seriously though, it seems to have a nice feature list. If it works as advertised it's probably a nice unit. FWIW the less expensive of the two NOS controllers handles the basics well.

John (Mr Nitrous) what is the diffrence between your F.R.E.D and NX maximizer. I was looking on the NX site and the maximizer looks diffrent than the F.R.E.D. What is the diffrence? Is yours a better unit or are they two in the same? I am looking to buy the unit soon, just don't want to find out that one is better than the other after dropping $500.00 on the unit. Thanks..Michael

His response might be a tad but biased, so you probably wanna check with people who actually use these devices...just a thought

The only thing different are the names...they're made by the same company.
There have been 3 variations of this "box"...1)analog w/*****, 2) early digital...like the picture on my webite, & 3) the newest digital...like the picture on the NX site.
NX & I sell the same "box" & call them different names...I just need to upgrade the picture on my web
O-Ace...that wasn't too biased was it??

John,
You got any input on weather I'd need a "progressive" control for what I'm talking about in this thread?
