Had a nitrous backfire last night and need some help?
Well, I knew it would happen eventually I was playing with a turbo regal from around 70 mph and ka boooooooooooom. I am so mad at my self right now, I can hardly type. The damn car is my baby and it's brand new. My big question is where do I start. Is this something I should attempt to fix or remove all the n20 compenents and take it in to the dealer? I am praying its nothing internal, the motor sounds ok when it does fire. Right now the motor runs but barely. It misses like crazy and I have no vacum (my brakes don't work) I'm sure I probably cracked the intake or blew vacume line off somewhere. My lid was completly blown off, the funny thing is my MAF still looks ok Again let me know where you would start if you were my shoes? I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read about the worst night of my life .
Thanks, mrTNT
My intended plan of action, please add to this.
-change oil, look for coolent
-change plugs, I am sure they are fried
-obtain a new MAF
-visually inspect intake
-you fill in the rest..............

Sorry to hear bro! Keep us updated on your progress fixing her all back up. Did you do anything out of the ordinary to bring on this backfire?

There was someone else who had a backfire (Fireball I think) who fried his O2 sensors so I'd check them also.
Your "no vacuum" problem could be since it's running so shitty and not something internal (at least I hope so).

Ok....I knew my name was coming up
let me start with specifics...
What shot were you running. What is your fuel system...what was your bottle pressure.
My "hiccup" did the exact same thing. it blew the lid clear off the car. It fried the maf. it looked OK but it was gone. the dead maf caused me to melt the crap out of 7 plugs. so those are obvious. I'd pop in new O2 sensors too. its really likely you popped the intake too. its sometimes hard to find any cracks...
Let us know what you find

Thanks, for all the fast replys. I was rolling from 70-75 mph and was in thrid and punched it and usually it never down shifts into second, but it did and it backfired like you wouldn't believe. Car has stock fuel system and 100 shot jets, bottle pressure was at 950psi. Fireball like you MAF looks ok, but I am sure its fried. If you wouldn't mind I would like to contact you some how because I had a few questions about this I didn't want to take up forum space with.
Thanks again for the sympathy,
mrTNT

A nitrous is most likely caused by an ignition problem. If your car hit the rev limiter when it downshifted this would explain the backfire. The computer pulls spark when the rev limit is reached. Do you have a window switch??

One thing I can say is that even though you were jetted at 100 shot...I've seen wierd things happen on several other's cars. I've seen people go lean on a NX 150 shot which seems to be right about the same as a TNT 100 shot IMO.
My event was triggered due to a lack of fuel on a 150 shot (stock fuel system) and it "nipped" a plug. Once you have a bad plug, as cntdrv65 said...its usually an ignition event. A bad plug can delay ignition and boom you light off everything in the intake At a minimum...I ALWAYS recommend a pump...I don't trust stockers
I'm a hard person to catch on phone these days (always on the move and work in a cell-restricted area)...if you want to contact me...its best to do so by email.

Are you running a wet or dry system?
Auto or Stick?
Do you have a window switch?

I will have an operational N.O.S. dry kit in my car this weekend... what are the conditions in which you can have a nitrous backfire?

Its hard to do on a dry kit I believe...
Though it can backfire...there isn't any fuel in the intake to make it go KABOOM

What pluga are you using...you should be running a colder plug. like a NGK TR6.Thats what did it.
