Default NOS Illegal to use? laws?

I live in Texas and was wondering if there is any laws on the books about the use of nitrous on the
street? I have heard everything when it comes to this subject. Is it illegal to have it in your car or to have the bottle in the car?

You would have to make sure ther are no local laws in your state or town. There isn't any federal laws except emission laws. I wouldn't think a cop would ticket you for emissions.

i got my bottles confiscated cause the cops didn't know **** about the law. they just assumed that it was illegal and made me follow them to the station to remove them. they thought i was inhaling it, even though i showed them the sticker saying, if inhaled, may cause death. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> stupid cops. i eventually got them back after they had the DA look up every law in the book trying to make sure i didn't get them back. finally i had to threaten them with a lawsuit for illegal search and seizure before getting them back. oh well, atleast they know for any future people/incidents.

In California I haven't found any laws in the Vehicle Code that would not allow the driver to carry a bottle of N20. I have asked 1 guy that was an expert in the V.C. and he did say it was illegal but was listed in a book similar to a Health and Safety code's. If you have a book around there similar ask about that. And in defense of the bottles being pressurized. Scuba divers carry pressurized bottles to the beaches all the time.

You know what should be illegal. Having the topic "NOS Illegal to use? laws?" instead of "N2O Illegal to use? laws?" <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />
But seriously i have heard that the california law is weird like "it is legal to transport the bottle but not to have it open" Something ***-backwards like that. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

You can have the bottle in the car but it can't be connected. I saw somewhere that Va. requires the display of a gas description sticker on the vehicle as well (you know, like you see on trucks) to report the presense of an oxidizer, which is a green one.

A year or so ago, Utah and I think Minnisota were both trying to pass very broad laws about vehicle modifications that would have outlawed the presense of nitrous in the vehicle (as well as aftermarket super-charging, turbo-charging, raising, lowering, etc.), but I don't know what the results of that were.

I'd like to see a cop prove when pulling you over that a car didn't come stock with a blower. Anyway, as long as it fits under the hood they could never prove it at the scene. You could then bring the car to court with the head unit removed and tell the Judge that the cop must have been smoking that yellow rock again <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

I have no idea what washigtons laws are. thats why I keep my bottle in the spare tire well and all lines are covered with the black wire loom tubes and noids are inside a radio shack project box. Looks factory as hell! Almost like the traction control box that has the trottle cables in it.

<img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> I had A trooper pull me over the other day for speeding, I have my bottle powdercoated the same color as my car, and it is mounted on the hump right behind my back seat. Very "hidden" You can actually see it 4-5 cars behind me! The troop asked me what that was for I tolled him oxygen for my gloucoma.... He laughed but really could care less.

Bird of Spray: If you would have said that to any cop in SoCal they probably would have pulled your *** and beat it down. They really have big CHiPs on their shoulders. <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />

Nebraska tried to pass a "no bottle law" forbiding anytype of nitrous bottle in the vehicle, it failed dismally. I have heard in some states (here goes the rumor mill) that if your caught with the bottle valve open, they can ticket you and confiscate the bottle on the spot. Check with the local highway patrol office, they should know....i would hope.

You know what should be illegal, reviving a 9 year old thread. Which punishment entails, 9 lashings with the cat of 9 tails.
