Default 1/4 mile n2o tips

Alright, how do you guys do it? I'm sucking major *** running with nitrous at the track (I think it's driver error ). NA, I can still get around my 13.2 best, but with the nitrous, it just goes out the window. I've only made a handful of runs on the bfg's, mostly on my street tires. The best I've managed so far with the 100 jets (don't remember the psi ~1000) is a 12.8@112. I've since dropped down to the 75 jets, and got the pressure up to ~1200. I trap about 114-115mph, but my et's are low 13's. I know my 60' needs improvement big time, currently running ~2.3-2.4. If I try to spray out the hole, it just spins once I hit 3200rpm, and then spins all of 2nd and a little in 3rd. What shift points do most of you guys use?I'm also getting some real crappy timing, ~18-21*. What's your secret? I know I need to use my bfg's, but it should still do better on street tires.

Dont sweat it. M6 with Nos aint easy! Im sure its not one thing thats killing ETs. More likely a bunch of little things. Cars tune (timing problem), burnout, tire pressure, track conditions, technique, lack of practice, can add up to some unimpressive times.

But anyways it really comes down to your 60' traction and launching, which will never happen unless you get some traction. I run 10.7s consistantly with ET streets. When I try it with Nittos i never break out of the 12s

If you are not into slicks...i bet you could get some much better times using a progressive contoller.

Also...practice, practice practice. Driving an M6 with spray is no easy task. When I had my new motor in i was runing like 11.0-11.3 at anywhere from 125-128 on the smaller shot. I could not get a clean pass and good launch to save my life. All my friends were telling me I sucked at shifting, your doing this wrong, your doing that wrong, I just told them it aint easy, they said yeah yeah whatever. After I got some practice and was running consistant 10.7s I let the two biggest **** talkers run my car down the track NA. The first guy stalled it trying to do a burnout...twice. And he had told me "I can drive the hell out of an F body". Pshhhh, whatever. He ran like a 13.8 at 112. When he got back I cut him no slack. He never said another word .
So anyways...practice.

LMAO @ Al Who was the smack talker? I would have loved to seen that lol

Hes absolutely right. Launching a 6 speed and using N2O isnt easy and takes alot of practice. The tires are your biggest problem. The hard street compound just doesnt hold N2O at all. I have the Nittos and they still break free easily. If you dont want to use slicks, then get a progressive controller. Its well worth the money and I wish I had one. First gear is a joke. The majority of your good ETs comes in the first 60'. Thats the part I reallllly suck at. Im constantly in the 2.0s.

Good luck and practice, practice, practice.

Wish I could add more to what they said. Sticky tires and practice will improve your times. I had the same problem, strapped on a NOS 5177 and thought yeeehaawwwww im gonna roll low 12's. Completely off the mark. So I concentrated on the traction issues. A few years later I am still running my original 6 speed (on its 4th clutch) and can run with some of the big dogs at the track. Progressive NOS computers are a saving grace. Get one, they do work.

Carl, the smack talkers where Anthony who used to have the fast white GT and Ariah. Anthony is the one who stalled it trying to do a burnout.

M6's really have a hard time.. So many different things going on at once.. Al has a point.. Secondary to my quicker shifts I could run consistent high 9's in Al's car. At this moment in time Al has the big head and it is slowing him down.. I would guess about another 300lbs added to the vehicle.. Al is known as the F-Bpdy God in our neck of the woods.. As soon as someone from out of town shows up and starts talking smack we always point him in Al's direction to set them straight.. Keep up the good work... One day I might be able to see your bumper even when you are on spray..

Here's a little help.Get bottle pressure around 950psi.Change window switch to come on at 3800rpm and don't power shift 1-2 shift.Your problem is your spinning hard. Also looks like your getting alot of knock retard which means your lean(to high bottle pressure)

On the knock issue: I've ataped most every run I've made. And most of them show about 1.5-2 degrees pop in right at shifts, which I had attributed to false knock caused by wheel hop (a good bit of it too). I richened the maft and the KR didn't go anywhere, so I figure it's false. I've got a can of xylene I'm also going to try to bring the octane up.

A friend of mine also suggested trying like 4000 for the window switch. I hadn't thought of that before, but sounds like a good idea. I was just thinking 1000 more rpm's to spray will help that much more. Hahaha, you race, you learn I guess . Similarly, I was thinking more pressure, more power. Time to go testing again...glad I can get it filled somewhat cheap from a private owner.
