Im in tough spot. I have a 99 T/A contertible. Just put a 80k mile bone stock LS1 in it. (headers and cat back too). I wanna spray... but i hear its violent. Someone please answer my dumb questions. How much can i spray before i blow something up? Whats safe? Ive been looking at the Zex wet 75-125 horse kit. Has a "nitrous managment" box that comes with it and supposedly keeps your motor from blowing up by keeping it in tune to some degree. Anyone know anything about that? Help me out. I dont wanna put a $500 nitrous kit in and blow up a $1500 engine in 5 minutes.

I would use a 9 plug.

No rod bolts is what is going to kill you.

my car had them and bent a rod.
Buddies car had them and we were spraying quite a bit more then you, and it threw rods out of both sides of the block. pretty much destroyed every last piece on the motor.

how many miles on the bottom end?
i have now 130k on my car i want to do the main studs and the rod bolt tho before i spray 200 +

Our heads(stage 1)/ms3/intake was prob making close to 500 to the tires.

So assuming you are 450+

Thats 550 at the crank, plus a 200(not sure what kit or jets, so RW or flywheel)

750 to 800 @ the crank is going to be rough on stock rods. Not saying it can't do it, I know it can. The question will be how long...

My main concern is installing this kit even with the 75 horse jets, not having it tuned right, and blowing something sky high engine wise. NOBODY in my town runs nitrous, so i have no help here... And this is a town of 150,000 people. City status.

lol wow. You got brass *****. lol im glad it didnt blow up on you tho haha. Brings me to one more question. If i get suddenly addicted to hittin the bottle (which im sure i will), is this gonna wear my motor out after 50 times? How many times is it safe to hit it generally? Assuming im only running somwhere between 75-150 well tuned...

A properly tuned 150 shot will live virtually forever. But as stated just keep up with the tune, especially with the weather getting cooler and you will be fine.

B8EFS [ NGK Stock# 1049 ] and gap them around 32

I suggest getting the car tuned with the 8's in it N/A so that away it will help with drivability issues. The car will still act finicky but as bad if you hadn't tuned it on the plugs.

Now that I think about it, I agree with this. Good idea Chris.

to be on the same subject im re-doing my nitrous setup...i had a nitro dave's single wet kit..upgrading to direct port...comes with 200 shot jets...ill probably do 150.

im to understand that ls1's have problems with rod bolts at higher rpm...7k+...i have my rev limiter set to 6500....wideband set from 3-6k...id shift around 62-6300...

how important are rod bolts and nitrous at these rpms tho???

also i understand the tremendous stress on the rods themselves and possibly blowing up...

like stated...why rod bolts? with lower rpms? if im spraying from 3-6k rpm why take my car over 7k rpm???

Quick Reply: stock bottom end. how much cam i push it to??
