Default NX vs. NOS

I decided to take a picture of an NX solenoid and a NOS solenoid side by side for comparisons sake.

Any questions

yeah, do yo know why the NOS one does not have the lifetime warranty the NX one does

Ryan <-- will only install NX. NOS noids work great... as a purge.

You did not take a picture of a comparable solenoid.

The one that is comparable to the NX noid is the NOS Cheater solenoid (much larger). You have a picture of a NOS powershot. Which,BTW, is all that is needed. NOIDS do not make power, the pill does!

I am aware that NOS has larger solenoids. I was just comparing the solenoids of the basic kits of each company.

GM NX kit
You can see the basic GM kit has the larger "Iceman" solenoids.

GM NOS kit
The basic GM NOS kit just has smaller solenoids.

This is true to an extent. A larger solenoid will flow more than a smaller one though

I'll agree with bad habit bird on this one. I had a NOS kit on my old car and it seemed real cheap. I really didn't trust the solenoids that it came with or the fact that it wasn't adjustable like most other kits. For my new ride I am intalling a TNT kit which I beleive takes top prize in this contest. All ratings givin by TNT are REARwheel horsepower unlike others flywheel ratings. Also, TNT systems are designed to run extra rich which is safer and produces alot of extra torque that other systems can't even come close to making. Although they are more expensive then the NOS and NX kit I think the extra 100 bucks is more then worth it. The NX kit is actually about 150 bucks cheaper but I am pretty sure it doesn't come with a blow off valve or a pressure gauge and a few other goodies the TNT kit offers. Now the NOS kit is only about 75 dollars cheaper then the TNT dry kit, pay a little now or save alot later, its your call. Before anyone goes and buys a nitrous kit I highly recomend them to check out TNT. If interested the best deal I found on them was this guy mike at number 503 531 9166. I beleive he only wants like 585 shipped to your doo
which probably puts it within 50 bucks away from the NX kit and about the same as the NOS kit maybe even cheaper for a dry kit too

TNT
NOS
NX

They are all similair quality. The only kits Ive dealt with to be substandard...and this is just my opinion, was Nitrous Works.

As far as kits and power levels....if you stay exactly within the confines of each kit as delivered the TNT kit seems to have a handle on power level. But with a little reasearch and understanding of nitrous you can make any kit reach any desired power level. Its not rocket science. X amount of oxygen + X amount of fuel tuned correctly will make Y hp. The only way to get slight differences in power with identical flow of each kit would be in the cars tune or a better quality (fuel atomization) nozzle. TNT, NX and Nos all have some pretty good nozzles. And Im speaking of wet kits. And yes I know Nos doesnt make a wet kit for our cars but all the parts are in the catalog to make one. I had one on my car for a while as a second stage...worked great.

As far as TNT or Nos dry? Similair price...TNT comes with a better solinoid that will flow more than the twin powershots, but a smaller bottle and cheaper valve. The TNT dry will not make more power than Nos for the same nitrous flow rate, however the noid will ultimately flow more on the TNT kit. Dry flow is dry flow.

I say buy the kit you think is the best value for what you are looking for. A TNT wet will have capabilities a Nos 5177 kit wont, and some may like the intimidating underhood look. But the 5177 is on the other end of the spectrum as far a simplicity and hideability for moderate gains and comes with a better bottle and valve along with blowdown for less $$. Ya gotta love the new NX kits too. Especially the Maf plate.

Bottom line...I wouldnt base my decision for buying a nitrous kit on solenoid size. It all depends on what your looking for, And how far you want to take it.

I totally agree with what you said.

All kits no matter who the manufacturer is, can make the same power......

For what it is worth I have a "self engineered" kit. I have a NOS solenoid for nitrous and a TNT for fuel.

Kind of "ghetto" but it works like a champ! Plus it was only 350.00 with everything - heater, tons of lines, 100 pills, 2 nozzles, bottle, 3 noids (purge, fuel, nitrous), gauge, fittings, etc.
