Probably a 500 shot. Before you laugh, consider that you'll need to do the following. You'll first need head gaskets and bolts that won't allow the heads to lift under this extreme pressure. Next, you'll need a progressive rpm-based controller that will give you a 150 shot at 3500 rpms, 300 shot by 5000 rpms and 500 shot by 6500 rpms...all at once would kill the motor, IMO. Next, you'll obviously need a dedicated fuel cell with only the best race gas, a dedicated fuel pump w/regulator and a relay activated timing retard system that progressively retards the necessary timing based on rpm level.

Jeff, build the motor right and do these things and a 500 shot is doable. I guarantee you can make a stock short block live under a 300 shot if you do this too. Again, the key is not bringing all the nitrous in at low rpms...gotta treat it more like a supercharger.

What type of system would you consider to do the job, direct port or just a dual stage????retard system? How about re-tuning the pcm to about 20-23 degrees??

Up to 250 shot, single shark nozzle. Over that, direct port. Timing retard is easy. Rewrite the timing tables with LS1 edit. Keep maximum timing for running N/A with IAT temperatures between 30-120 degrees. Any temp over that (120+), you modify the timing tables to run only 20 degrees of timing. When you engage the nitrous it will energize the relay that switches your IAT sensor from reading normal air temps to a resistor value that reads 150 degrees. This will drop your timing to the 20 degrees you programmed in with LS1 Edit...all automatically!

What type of shot would that be Patrick? Wet or dry?

Since I'm not talking about going to a stand-alone DFI system to control a dry nitrous set-up, my recommendation would be wet. Running a dry 500 shot would take a tremendous amount of computer tuning and injector size/pulsewidth calibrations which are beyond the capability of most mere mortals (including myself).
