Do i need a retune to run nitrous or just a timing retarder?

Default Do i need a retune to run nitrous or just a timing retarder?

Ok so I just have a question about running a small shot of nitrous on my car. I want to run a 75-100 shot on my car. Motor is around 76k-80k miles, has a small cam and heads package with a fast 102 intake. . I have an upgraded fuel pump, going to run a fpss, wot switch and window switch. I think the car is running at 23* timming but need I to look at my data logs to make sure.

With that being said, can I just run a wet kit nitrous with out pulling timing or just getting a timing retarder like the LNS2000? Or do I need to bring the car back to my tuner to let him work his magic?

Have had a couple people tell me that I can just run a 75 shot with out having to change anything but then I have herd my tuner say that I need a retune. I'm trying to do everything I can myself to learn as much as possible so I don't have to relie on anyone.

LOL. Timing retarder.

Just get a timing box and pull back 2 degrees for every 50 shot. Have it activate with the nitrous arming switch and go. That's how I have mine set up.

Most nitrous companies have told me up to 100 shot you will be fine with stock timing just throw in some br7ef plugs

thanks but I don't know if im at stock timing or not. I am running a small cam and heads on the car so don't know if the timing was changed or not.

If you are at 23 total timing at WOT i'd say you are okay, Talk to Nitrous Outlet, they can help you better than any of us keyboard jockey's

Being that you have a tuned HCI combo, i'm guessing the timing is probably not stock, but who knows. I was in the same situation as you recently, and my plan was to pull the timing myself via the LNC-2000, and then have it throw on the dyno to measure a/f just to be safe

I would recommend the LNC-2000 to remove timing from your existing tune. From the sound of it you have a good baseline tune on motor. Now just swap plugs, pull timing, confirm correct A/F and you're good to go.
