Default Suddenly no NO2?

When I hit WOT the system is firing and I feel the fuel adder, but there doesn't appear to be any nitrous kick anymore. I tried it again with the bottle closed and it feels the same. In the garage I manually triggered the solenoid and it has a strong click off and on.

Is there a better way to test it?

The bottle was just filled and it was working before but this started before the last bottle fill.

What was your pressure at? I have a little trouble like your describing when my pressure is to high. Get it down and I am fine.

A leak or break in the line maybe? What is the bottle pressure?

Wow, really?

Like maybe the high pressure is overpowering the solenoid so it won't open?

I took off my gauge but I will check tomorrow.

I didn't get to look at it today but I did have to make a grocery run. So I decided to flip the switch. It was working just fine.

I'm at a loss.

i just had one of my large zex solenoids do this. it quit a couple weekends ago and i had a race so i swapped my purge solenoid and everything was working fine. then i tested the bad solenoid on a battery and it was working, so i chalked it up to bad wiring.... well i put the nitrous solenoid back in (and soldered everything) and took my car to the track this past friday and again no go only fuel was spraying, had to swap purge back in (and it worked fine wires twisted and taped together). im gonna tear it apart today and see if there is anything visually wrong inside but i have no clue why it randomly locked up.

Yeah, that sure sounds like the problem to me.

Who makes the best solenoids?

What solenoid is it? What was the bottle pressure?

The best way to look and see if its a solenoid issue or a wiring issue would be to do the following.

1. Unwire the solenoid from the system.

2. Run the positive and ground wires from the solenoid directly to the battery. If you have to extend the wires use at least 12 gauge wire.

3. Hook the ground wire to the battery and during testing you will press the positive wire to the terminal to blast the solenoid.

Most nitrous solenoids are not rated to open over 1100 psi so check your bottle pressure. If the solenoid does not fire and the pressure is below 1100 psi something is probably wrong with the solenoid. Either the coil is breaking down or it has a lot of wear on the piston that changed the seat height. Check with the manufacture to see what the operating specs are.

Thanks Dave.

What solenoid would you recommend? I'm only running a 100 shot.

i dont want to thread jack, but this is what i found inside of mine. idk what it is its some kind of grease or nitrous residue? but its like a waxy substance thats powdery when you scrape it off. it made its way into where the piston slides and i think was jamming it up. i cleaned it all out and im gonna try it again with the bottle hooked to it and see if it will hit. also thinking about pulling my fuel solenoid apart because i dont want it to seize up...

The most cost effective with out sacrificing quality would be our Brand X Nitrous solenoid. It will support up to 200 hp max.

My favorite choice would be our .125 Nitrous Outlet solenoid. It has a purge port and can support a little under 500 hp.

That looks like an assembly lube. Looks like someone may have got a little carried away. Is the solenoid having issues or did you just take it apart to check it out?

You know, I've been looking over a bunch of stuff to try to figure this out. Last night I was looking at the install instructions to make sure I had it right (I did), but I also noticed the warning to check the filter every 30 pounds (I haven't). I was thinking that was my next step. I might as well look for some extra lube too.

i pulled my fuel solenoid apart today and it was clean as a whistle inside. i also re-installed my main nitrous solenoid and it works fine now! with and without pressure. i would try pulling yours apart it may be something you can fix i only needed a pair of channel locks to get mine apart and i cleaned that residue out with some warm soapy water.

i havent ran a nitrous filter on the 5 cars i've sprayed and never had a solenoid problem till now. now im kinda considering it because im not sure what was in my solenoid lol it was either an assembly lube of some sort or some kind of nitrous residue.
