heads, cam and nitrous.....look at my set up....
I have a set of stage two heads by total engine airflow, 230/224 cam by thunder, slp longtubes, weisco forged pistons, arp rod bolts, walbro 340 intank and a tnt wet kit. I am looking for suggestions and comments of my set up on nitrous. I have a bottle heater, window switch(3000-6400 on nitrous), vent mounted fp/ nitrous pressure guages, and wot switch. I was wondering a couple things: how much do you think I can safely spray on this motor? I know that anywhere above 150 I should be using/ mixing in race gas. Secondly, at that shot how much power do you think I am losing compared to a better n2o cam(like a 224/227..114)? Next, if I was to do a cam swap would you go with a common cam (like the 224/227..114) or would you have something custom grinded considering I have room for more lift with the valve reliefs in my pistons? Lastly, do I need to get a timing controller for nitrous or will the computer adjust the timing on spray? thanks all comments/ suggestions are welcome.
Running that much HP total I would definately look into the Timing Tuner. It really is required equipment for what you are trying to do. You will definately pick up more HP and TQ with a cam spec'd for nitrous...but you may loose some NA power...so it depends on what your goal are. If you an all out Nitrous race only car...go for the nitrous setup...however..if you ride around 99% of the time on motor...keep what ya got. Thats my .02c. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
What compression are you running? Assuming you are running close to stock compression or higher I would pill that to at least 200 if not 300. I think your cam is fine. If you must change it make sure you get something with much more exhaust duration, 230+.
Check my Sig for my numbers N/A and on a 100 wet shot. If your on your stock bottom don`t go over a 100 shot to be safe. I talk to Jayson at MTI, he said I would be really pushing it with a 15o shot. I`m getting 550RWHP on 100 shot, bottle psi was 900, and my timing is at 23 degrees. I might get 10 or so more RWHP with the bottle pressure up to 1050. I have the heater and all myself. Works great. I have all the power in the world to run 10`s. Just need traction. Be Careful is all I`m saying!
why does everyone on here respond w/o reading the origional post? I have weisco forged pistons, and arp rod bolts for some added safety. nobody answered my questions that are in the post, just wrote me bs about the setup. I was wondering how much do you think is safe, on my not stock motor?

lol...I wish. Im not trying to spray anything over 250, I think that is overbored on stock rods. I am thinking that a 150 shot would be fine but I am wondering if I could push it to 200. That would be a monster power maker. With 224/227 a 200 shot, 700 rwhp and 850 ft. lbs of torque...ouch. Nevermind I am just wonder what size I can spray and still not be putting my motor at risk.
