Default Need Help w/ NX Wet Kit Install **Update**

Alright guys, I need some serious help here. I've been doing research for about 3 hours now trying to find install guides and pics. My buddy gave me a NX wet kit that he used on his '00 C5. The kit is currently incomplete, but we have everything that's missing on order. I don't recall exactly what is missing. I know the nozzle is gone (stolen), the line from the bottle, and one other thing. It'll all be here in a few days.

My main concern is the wiring. It's still wired up from when it was installed on my friend's 'vette. I took two pics with my webcam. Sorry for the poor quality.

http://www.geocities.com/unit213/index.html

I have no clue where to begin. Can anyone help me out? You'll have to explain it to me like I'm a 5 year old.

This is what I think I know:

1. The two braided lines from the 'noids will connect to the nozzle, which will go into my Fernco hose.
2. One 'noid is for fuel and one is for N20.
3. I need to connect one 'noid (not sure which) to the shrader valve on the driver's side fuel rail.

I should just have my buddy do it since he owns a motorsports shop. I don't want to look like a dumbass though.

Any help is much appreciated.

Dan

1. Yes
2. Yes
3. The fuel noid. The valve in the fuel rail is actually taken out (like out of the valve stem in a tire). Then the fuel noid hooked up.

BTW your pics, no worky

"3. The fuel noid."

The fuel 'noid to the fuel rail. I kind of figured that. I didn't know the valve comes out though.

So, to summarize briefly...

1. Run a line from fuel rail to fuel 'noid.
2. Line out from fuel 'noid to nozzle.
3. Line from bottle in to nitrous 'noid.
4. Line out from nitrous 'noid to nozzle.

That should cover the plumbing, now what about wiring? I'll get the pics working. They show how the wiring is set up.

Ok, the link above should work now. From the pictures (if they work), you'll see that I'm missing the line from the fuel rail to the fuel 'noid. That's the piece I couldn't remember. Also, is there some sort of fitting needed to go from the fuel rail to the 'noid or do I just use the braided line?

Thanks for the help.

Blurry but it looks like the fuel solenoid has the fitting in it. You need to run one wire from each solenoid to a ground, doesn't matter which wire, just one from each. the other will go to the relay. You know what speaking of this, use the search button, cause I have answered this same question twice already and retyping is a PITA. search button and look for nitrous install check also using my username for quicker more precise results.

Good-luck and have fun spraying.

Now that I have a basic understanding of how the setup works, I need to know where to mount the 'noids. I know it really don't matter. I'd like to know the most common place. Any pics?

I'm thinking that the fuel noid would be best on the fuel rail and the nitrous 'noid mounted on the EGR bracket on the passenger side head.

Dan, where is obviously a matter of preference, the way you mentioned is how my friend did his. I did mine by using the sides of the ABS actuator and mounted one on each side using the one bolt on the actuator to bolt to the noid bracket. Later I will make a one-off alum or SS bracket to mount both to, but then again I am looking at getting the NXL ( or whatever the NX DP kit is named). Good-luck, have fun.

Charlie,

Just to follow up...I just finished installing the two 'noids. Like I previously stated, I got the kit from a friend and he already wired it up. The 'noids were about 8 inches apart. I didn't want to cut and splice so I worked with it. I mounted both of them on the passenger side. The fuel solenoid is attached to the cylinder head using a bolt from the EGR. The nitrous solenoid is right next to the air conditioning compressor. I'll take a pic of it tomorrow. It's nothing fancy since I'm getting rid of the car in the summer.

Once I get the remaining parts from my buddy, I may have a few more questions regarding wiring of switches. Thanks again for the help.

I think your going good from here BUT...... from what I see is that you might want to put the solenoids on the driver side. TWO reasons(or at least for me) 1. There is no place to run the nitrous line through the firewall on the passenger side(I prefered to run my line inside the car) and 2. Because you are going to need a pretty long fuel line to connect to the fuel rail and if you put it on the driver side you can use a short line and it will be right there.

I will snap a couple of my UNFINISHED NX kit install tomorrow.

Good catch Guy99TA, sorry i had brain farts earlier thinking about mounting. If you go lines long enough sure, but if not the optoins are split it N2O on the right, and fuel on the left or both on the left. I have pics of my system if you need them also, just give a holler.

Guy, you ran your line through the interior and out the firewall??? That would be yet another way i have seen. Although a drill and careful locating can fix the required hole situation. I ran my along the wheelwell under the rear right seat (thru the grommet) and then tied off to the SFC and up the right inner fender well, along backside of the intake kinda b-lining from #8 cylinder area to the solenoid but by no means gaudy. Anyway, if it works it works.

Well I have a small whole drilled now which is more of a pilot for right now. I don't have my line yet b/c I also got a nitrous kit off of a vette and the line was about 6 foot short so I ordered one yesterday. The whole is about a 1/2 an inch under the steering column and about an inch or two to the left. I wanted to run mine on the passenger side also but I ran into the problem with there not being any place to run the line through the firewall. All I lack finishing the install is the nitrous line, connecting the wirinrg(from my switch to the solenoids and power source) and finding my damn nitrous gauge/switches bracket that I built and cutting a 2 in hole in it for my gauge and sticking my switches in it.

I tried to mount the fuel solenoid close to the driver's side fuel rail initially. My buddy already had the noids wired up so I didn't want to mess with them. There was only about 6 or 7 inches of wire to work with between them so it made it somewhat challenging. The lines will obviously reach the nozzle. I have the line from the fuel rail to the noid on order. I'm not sure how long it's going to be. I'll relocate them if it's a problem. Now that I understand how the plumbing works, I should be ok there. I have no clue about any switches yet...wot switch, arming switch, etc. I just want the very basics, nothing fancy.

WOT and arming is all you need. You can use a FPSS, fuel pressure safety switch, also for that added comfort if the pressure should for any drop to make it too lean it kills the spray. Also, a window switch, I do spray thru the shifts w/ my 4L60E, and several friends do also, but soemlike that added safety. It will only let the N2O activate at the low rpm (set using "pills") and shuts it off at the set high rpm. You want a module no lower than 3000 for the low side, any lower-BANG-CRACK-POW thats the END and a good shut off point is 6000 so it will stop spraying when the trans needs to shift or you need to clutch. the WOT switch mounting is a PITA if you dont have one to reference. I will look for a good pic and post it.

First off, you guys are awesome.

I will be using a FPSS. The install is on hold until I get the rest of my parts in from NX. I'll post again when I get the parts. It's looking like I'm going to have to do some splicing and re-mount the fuel solenoid to the driver's side. The braided fuel line isn't long enough. I'm not sure about the window switch. I'll look into that. Thanks.

There are a couple of pics of my install there. The solenoids pics are kinda dark for now b/c I haven't had time to mess with them

Just an update here...

I still need jets, the nozzle, and a tank. I'll have the jets and the nozzle on 2/5 or 2/6. I picked up a solenoid fitting, the line that goes to the tank, and a line that goes to the nozzle. So I have all of the braided lines and both solenoids ready to rock.

I can't complain about the delays since all of this is completely free...even bottle refills will be free. <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />
