Default Nitrous Question

New to running nitrous, I have the nitrous express plate kit, maximizer 4 and bottle heater. My 2011 Camaro SS has tsp stage 3 3.2 vvt cam, LT headers, no cats, cai, 3200 stall and 3.91 gear. Looking to run 100 maybe up to 150 shot. Question is do I need to upgrade fuel system (ZL1 fuel pump, fpcm) and LNC 2000 to retard timing or can I use a stand alone fuel system with race fuel and not have to have a LNC 2000 to retard the timing. And should I get car dyno tuned again after nitrous install.

I have no idea about the fuel system on your car, but even with a standalone I'd still pull a little timing to be safe, and then have the tune dialed in as well. I'm personally not fond of cutting corners with nitrous

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m not really trying to cut corners, just wanted to know if I needed a stand alone fuel system with race gas or fuel pump and pull timing would work

I'm not a pro with nitrous but have been researching a bit because I'm installing a 150 shot next year. You should use the lnc regardless to pull timing to make sure safe. From my reading, it would be unlikely that you would need a dedicated fuel cell for a 100-150 shot. It would be best to dyno tune after nitrous to ensure everything is working as it should and that your timing is where it needs to be.

It doesn't matter what fuel you run. You absolutely need a way to pull timing so the LNC-2000 is a must have item.

As mentioned above by HCI2000SS, we are not familiar with your fuel system so we can't really give advice on what shot you can or can't run. You may have already maxed out your fuel system with your cam and exhaust work. We don't know.

A standalone fuel system to feed the nitrous system is the best way to go. It makes it easier to fine tune your system and allows bigger shots with a better safety margin when a nitrous specific race fuel is used. It's not exactly cheap though unless you build one yourself.

I can run a hundred shot on my 99 TA with the stock pump, you should pull timing, also run a fuel pressure safety switch if you use the stock pump, Run at least 1 step colder plugs, and pull them to inspect after your first run. Prolly don't need to dyno tune. And run 93 or higher octane.

If you want the cheap and easy way: your fuel pump will supply enough pressure and volume to handle a 100 shot...you can feed your Nitrous solenoid from your fuel rail. You need to pull a little timing. This will be application specific on your setup/tune/plugs.. and will take some testing to figure it out. If you're looking to do this yourself and don't want to go back to the dyno, get the LNC2000 and pull 4 degrees on 93... read plugs and go from there. Just my $.02
