q? for NX-Maximizer users (new version)
Hi,
I'm looking into getting the NX-Maximizer (the new version).
I have a few questions/concerns.
I noticed that it's mainly designed for Palm use... I have a PALM, but doesn't figure in the list... I have a IBM WorkPad c3 (runs on Palm v. 3.5)
Q1: Has anyone used it and works with that Palm ?
I also have a laptop, but have no serial-port. I have a Serial-USB connector, which is the one recommended by AutoTap to use with the EFI-Live (which works perfectly)
Q2: Has anyone used it with a laptop with Serial-USB connector ?
Q3: Are there different version of NX-Maximizer (PC/PDA) ?
I just want it to work with no hassles.
Do people have pictures of the wires that they can share... in the pix I came accross, I couldn't see no serial nor PDA connectors.
Here is the image of the NX-Maximizer (new version) to avoid confusion:
Thanks,

Mine came with a cable with a serial port connector already attached and another length of cable with an adapter which pluged into the serial port cable. It then had a connector on the other end that plugs into the hot sync port on the bottom of my Palm Pilot. There are no USB connectors anywhere. If your Workpad has the same hotsync connection that a Palm Pilot has then I would think it might work ok.

There is a PC version of the software that you can download from http://www.fjoracing.com/updates.htm
Every input signal needed you can get from PCM/sensors with no problem

I might mention that I called FJO with several questions about my controller and it's software. Their customer service was excellent. The person I spoke with was very knowledgeable about their products and gave me a lot more help than merely answering my questions. He gave me many good tips and explained much more than the very thin user's manual did.

One thing the FJO rep stressed to me was that the Maximizer was to be used only from a stop. It is not designed to be used on a vehicle while driving. Don't ask me to try and explain why, call FJO for the technical explanation. I'm just repeating what their rep told to me.

I have worked with a customers quite abit. I think that is because the computer doesn't really know when you are in a different gear. If you have the nitrous setup differently in differnt gears it won't work right. The customer had it set up to only come on in 3rd gear for the dyno. I had to completely go in and change all the settings for all the gears. When I was on the dyno it thought it was in 1st sometimes, in 2nd sometimes, and in 3rd some of the time. I have it disabled in 4th gear and it switched to 4th on the dyno when the converter locked up in 3rd. LOL
The guys at FJO are very helpful. I realied on them for alot of info and got everybit of what I needed.
