An old idea but perhaps interesting
that was "sort of" like nitrous, but was based on
simple compressed air. Like SCUBA type pressure
bottle, a valve and a jet into the carb throat. The
action I think combined charge cooling and some
Venturi ram effect. Limited in duration but, if you
had a nice tiny compressor onboard, replenishable
as you idle or cruise. All you need is a 10-second
shot, right

I bet this would play hell with a MAF but a speed-
density tuned car probably would love a couple PSI
of rammed super-cooled air.
compressors that would go that high on eBay
but they look heavy
and expensive

The valves for this kind of pressure though are
readily available. And pawn shops down here
always seem to have a SCUBA tank or two.
I did the same kind of math and figured a 1500PSI,
2cuft tank would give you a 2ATM intake pressure
(if you could make it stick) for 10 seconds.
The downside is limited boost time, the upside (with
the proper compressor / dryer) is unlimited free refills.
