You could live without and may never have a problem. It is however very cheap insurance if something happens with your fuel supply. Not familiar with the NOS product numbers but I'm assuming that's a wet kit.

I would say don't be cheap and get it. The money you save by not doing it is definitely not worth the hassle you'll have if something goes bad.

It's really cheap insurance!!! Just make sure you set it properly with a fuel pressure gauge

I never ran one on my LS1 and I don't currently with my '03 Cobra. It's not needed, but it's a good idea to use one.

Meh. I don't use no stinkin' FPSS... Then again, my thinking is that if I blow the motor, I'll be forced to build a forged one. Seriously, I read many threads about FPSS giving folks issues, so I skipped it. I guess any extra safety is a good thing, but IMO not totally necessary.

I had one on my last kit but I didnt get one with my new kit so I just didnt use one, They are probably a good idea but I am always looking for a reason to build a stroker.

How important is a condom? I have a dry shot that I made similar to the 5177. I changed my MAF, and bottle, and nothing else and my 02’s are all over the place. I have hit audible detonation with my dry shot. Spray through MAF style are supposed to be safer because the computer sees the nitrous as just a large increase of really cold air, there for the computer still has control.
A fuel pressure safety switch is cheap and can save from a bad weekend. If you have a small shot and good way to monitor whats going on, its not as important but it can never hurt.

So if the fuel pressure drops, the FPSS will shut off the nitrous correct?
What happens if your fuel noid sticks shut, will it shut off the nitrous? You still have fuel pressure if the fuel noid sticks shut correct? And all that nitrous going into your engine by itself?

Your FPSS when wired properly will cut power to both noids. However if you have a noid issue, nothing will help you. That's why it's always wise to crack your bottle before hooking it up. Clear all the lines on a regular basis, etc. Beyond that if junk gets in your solenoids somethings gonna give.

NOS 5177 is a dry kit... there is no fuel noid.

Is there any thing you can do prevent objects from getting inside of your noids? I don't really see how anything could get into them but I have heard stories.
-What do you mean 'crack the bottle open before you hook it up?'
-When you say you should clear the lines, what do you mean and how often? There might be months when I go without spraying. Should I clean the lines by purging every once in a while? How often, how long?

-What goes wrong with the FPSS? How can you hook it up wrong?
-What problems?

Yes, I know that. I guess I should've been more specific when asking that since I have a wet kit

DERTY: So the FPSS is only worth while if your fuel system goes out and pressure drops then, correct? Not if your fuel solenoid sticks shut because there IS fuel pressure...the FPSS won't do anything.

The FPSS will only sense a fuel pressure drop that would cut-out the circuit.

That is correct. It only reads fuel pressure, not the status of your solenoids.

I think he means, when the bottle is out of the car and about to be put in, open the valve a bit and let some n2o out. This will make sure no junk is sprayed into the lines.
