Default 180 shot on mostly stock motor???

Ok, my list of mods is down below... By the time I reinstall the NX Direct port kit, I will have a Moser 12 Bolt,QA1 Shocks in the back, Bogart 15x10.5 w/ MT Drag radials and Bogart 15x4.5...

Will my motor stand up to a 180 shot from a direct port setup? Or should I stick with the 120... Previously, I was running the 80 shot, and needless to say I wasnt impressed...

Any Help would be greatly appreciated

i would personaly only go with the 120. 180 seems to be pushing it, as far as whats safe for a stock motor and what isnt. im sure some people have done it and the motor lasted indefinatly, while others blew it up the first time. ive heard 150 done right on the stock long block will hold up.

If you're doing a standalone fuel with plenty of pressure you shouldn't have any problems running 250+, unless you're expecting to get 100k miles out of your engine?

I ran my NXL, which is what your using, at 180, it only put down about 140 or so to the wheels, I actually had a harder hit, better time and mph with the Wet kit at 150! But needless to say, sounds like your getting your suspension dialed in which is good, but without a larger fuel pump, anything over 150 is going to be on the edge of too lean. At least put a Walbro intank pump in before you hit 180. And tune for.
I ran the 180 on 93 octane pump, about 22* timing and I ran it with race gas mix, and 25* timing. So dont do it without tuning. And thats assuming you are using a good plug gapped right, like TR-6 @ .032"

good luck.

I use an NGK TR6 at .035, havent reallt done much tuning to it at all, waiting for a few other things to fall into place, I think after I get my rear end and all that installed, I am going to do a quick "mail-order" tune from Speed inc.

As for JeffT, I saw his dyno, and all I can say, is HOLY ****!!! He's got nuts!

I don't plan on this motor making 100k, she's only got 41k...

CAT3- I had the same problem... When I was running my 80 shot(Don't laugh at me! lol) I was only getting about 55-60 of it to the wheels... Is that a problem with the kit? Are you still running the NXL or have you gone back to a wet kit?

If the tune and the fuel supply is great then you should have no problems as long as you dont expect 100k out of it.

I dumped it. I like the looks of the NXl. But I am currently sitting far far away thinking, scheming of the next system.
If you dont have any tuning, at min use the TR6 gapped down to .032, use lots of race gas and pray. Without taking some timing out, your sitting in a 50/50 make it, or break it.

The direct Port, in theory, should be alot more efficient than the wet kit... but it seems to be the other way around... Bugs the hell out of me. Have you heard any other stories from NXL owners?

I don't think you'll have any problems as long as you get your timing and fuel correct. I've sprayed as much as a 200rwhp shot on my stock long block. I usually spray a 150rwhp shot so I guess that's around 175-180 at the crank. Been spraying the motor hard for two years now and everything seems just fine and the car still makes good power.
