His car has 13.4:1 compression. I hardly considering that streetable.

The torque appears low because we hit at 75 MPH and it went to 120 in 1.8 seconds and the RPM only reached 6000. If we had of taken it all the way to 7000 the TQ would have been much higher. I know that some of the larger shops will build you a long block if you want but I choose to buy all the parts and have the machine work and assembly done by a shop that specializes in building motors. Thanks, the car is fast and it still has alot more in it, just need to get the suspension set up alittle better. Take a look at the videos from the Thunder Shoot out, my car is the NBM T/A dragging the bumper to about 75ft out. lol
so who build the motor and how much did it cost you. I bet you have a fuel system right. Anyways you must be having trouble putting it to the ground right

is your car streetable because I still want mine to be. I mean I really dont drive during the week except for the weekends but I still want to have the option to drive it anywhere i want. I was also wondering how reliable are engines like 408 when you get to have at least 550rwhp. I mean will we have them for awhile

A local shop here in Dallas assembled the motor. I've got about 12K in it and yes I have a fuel system and no I don't have any trouble getting the power to the ground or even getting it to hook. I run a built TH-400 with a 12 bolt, the car regularly cuts 1.3 60fts.

Well mine is not streetable because the high compression ratio requires race gas, I usually run 110 octane which is $5.25 a gallon. I know there are several people with lower compression that do drive theirs on the street, infact 1 is a daily driver. A properly built 408 is as reliable as any other motor.

408s are known for their torque, they routinely make more TQ than HP. I wish I could find the graph, I could tell you exactly what it made N/A.

Yes without a problem. I take it you know that a 408 is a 6.0 litre iron block truck engine? I think they were like 364 CID, they just weigh about 100 LBs more than an LS1. You can buy a brand new block for like $500.00 and go from there.

Vince, the car weighed 3468 LBS when it crossed the scales after the 9.23 pass at the Thunder Shoot Out. The car without driver weighs 3200 LBS. We ran both N20 bottles completely full and a half tank of gas just to make sure it weighed 3450 LBS after each pass.

BTW, my name is Mark.

Mark that is ROLLING OUT!!! That mph for an automatic is awesome.. I hope to trap like that on the street making similar horsepower on the juice. My raceweight is slightly higher than yours because of my physical size.. Wow!!!

My car could be a daily driver if I drove it everyday. I work so much so my car sits in the garage. My car is pump gas friendly depending on the temps outside, but temps do not matter when you have the timing tuner. Just a turn of the **** and timing is lowered and no KR. If you look at my sig you can see I still make good power with decreased power even with decreased timing. Once the nitrous hits you are in a different world. Hell when I tested out my nitrous I did it on pump gas and my first stage got me 691rwhp/684rwtq rolling into it and actually flooring it at 4200rpm and spraying till 6200rpm. This was on a dyno with a 3400lb load. Hopefully next week I will have time to do the same shot on race gas so I can hit it at 3000rpm.

That was a 175 dry shot by the way with a/f right at 11.8

Mike it's a automatic. They make more tq because of the tq converters I think.. I have seen automatic 346ci setups make crazy tq..
