Default Insurance and Warranty

Lol, i am buying myself a TNT dry kit and last night as i wrote the check, my mom asks "whats that " so now my parents are both pissed and will not let me do anything until i aswer two questions.

1.) what will the insurance say
2.) will it void our extended warranty

so as far as im concerned, the insurance company cant say **** unless it was hooked up and i got into an accident and somthing happend, which is all pretty unlikely, the bottle isnt going to explode into a giant fireball, and it wont even burst because ill have a blow down tube to vent all of the spare pressure if say my car is on fire, yet again, unlikely, or say theother car hits me, and the bottle pops, whatever damage is done to my car their insurance will have to pay unless they can prove that the bottle was hooked up. nitrous isnt illegal to HAVE its illegal to have HOOKED up. at least from what ive heard...

secondly, if i take my car into get my engine checked because nitrous fucked it up, of course it voids the warranty, their extremely **** like that, but do what everyone else does and take the nitrous out and they cant do anything but im positive that he wont go for that, being a president of a company himself, hes like got this whole thing about not cheating out other companies for money, but the dealership makes plenty of money and cheats people out of money CONSTANTLY!!! so whatever...

anyone have any experience with either of these situations that can shed some light for me, it would be greatly appreciated... THANKS!!!

It shouldn't affect your insurance even if you are in a wreck. As far as the dealer. If you where to hurt the motor and you bring it to the dealer for warrantee work they can test your oil for sulfer content which will tell them if the motor has been sprayed.

I do find it amusing that your parents are more worried about insurance and the warrantee more than they are worried about you killing youself. I swear, everytime the UPS truck shows up at my house my mom starts to get all worried that I'm making my car faster and that I'm going to end up dead on the side of the road.

also, what i mean by the warranty, is that will it void the entire warranty or just for the parts ruined by nitrous? or will they say somthing like "well u put nitrous into it so evrything is ruined because of nitrous, no warranty for you

If you havn't sprayed the car a whole lot then yes that sometimes works. But if you run atleast a couple bottles a month it will show even after a couple of oil changes. Even if they didn't test it or the sulfer didn't show up there should be some other small signs to hint at nitrous use. However, I don't think 75% of GM techs would ever look into the situation far enough. I have heard that you can sell extended warrantees back to the companies. I'm not sure if it true but, if the car is paid off I would look into that and take the extra couple of thousand and put it into a broken parts fund.

It can only void what it affects. So your motor and driveline will be void but say you have a leaking windshield, that would be covered.

what are some other signs? also, i think my parents main concern is the insurance company saying something such as "this car was modified in such a way to increase horsepower which increases the risk of driving, and since we werernt notified and werent given the chance to increase the payments, we have the right not to pay for the damages." and my dad says that 80 percent of the stuff covered by the extended warranty are engine and transmission things that go wrong which is what the nitrous will void. so what am i to do? should i try to "sell" it back to the dealership and put the money into the broken parts fund or should i just not do nitrous..................... ok forget that i said the latter

Actually, I just noticed that your buying a dry kit which won't leave as much evedince behind. Usually a dead give away is the presents of fuel in the intake system but of course that won't be a problem for you. With a small dry shot that is tuned right, the pistons, rings and bearings shouldn't show any excessive wear.

Your dad is right about the warranty, it's really not worth having if the powertrain isn't covered. I would see if you can work some deal with the company so you no longer need it and tell your parents you'll be responsible for anything you break on the car.

As far as insurance is concerned I did alittle searching around. I actually found out that my company (State Farm) will not cover nitrous vehicles yet my agent knows all about it and it is not a problem. So all in all unless the nitrous is directly to blame for the accident I can't see them voiding insurance insurance policy after the accident. I would carefully read your policy and see if it says anything about disclosure or modified vehicles.

Just dont tell them, who cares, they wont know. Even if an adjuster comes to look at your car, they wont know their left from their right. Just take off the kit before they look at the vehicle.
