Question doe's this sound right for nitrous

I have a N.O.S nitrous dry kit on my ss camaro, running a 100 shot. I ran my car for the first time today on 100 shot with a 3,000 to 6,000 N.O.S window switch. My bottle is at 950 psi, But when I run it doe'snt kick like I thought it would, when it hits 3'000 rpm I gradually feel the power but it dont feel like an instant 100hp. Is this normal?

P.S the reason I ask is because, one of the many times I ran the car today It kicked good I felt instant power.

Well dry kits hit easier then wet kits. Your pressure might be fine, but sometimes you can have air in the lines, or inconsistant power after a few runs. Might wanna get a gauge to see how much nitrous you have left, could just be low.

mine kicks instantly like a mule.I know it sounds dumb but ceck the little things first, bottle opened all the way, purge if you have it,test to make sure your noids fire correctly once youve done that hook things back up and drive it again.

if you have the remote NOS bottle opener it might not be working. Might want to check the grounding. A bad ground could cause all kinds of trouble. also try unhooking the lines at the lid and manualy trigger the system while holding the hoses away from the car and verify the noids are opening. also check the nitrous filter.

I know you mentioned bottle pressure but how do you know?

Easiest and most simple first - check your bottle pressure.
If you don't have a bottle pressure gauge - get one!

It could also be getting low on nitrous. A 100 shot with a 10lb.
bottle is probably good for 12 - 15 twelve second blasts. More
or less, depending on bottle pressure.

You're talking about a pressure gauge right? Pressure can still be somewhat misleading, you can have 1 pound of nitrous left in the bottle and still have full pressure. The only way to tell how much nitrous you have left in the bottle is to take it out and weigh it.

^ That is actually the best way if you haven't kept track of how many times you hit the button or engaged your throttel switch.

12-15 passes???? On a 100 shot he would be lucky to get 6 or 7 passes.

Hahaha...yes, we're talking optimal conditions. I recall this direct from NOS...but my old age could be wrong.

Wait, here it is:

Q: How long will the bottle last?
A: This largely depends on the type of nitrous kit and jetting used. For example, a 125 HP Power Shot kit with a standard 10 lb. capacity bottle will usually offer up to 7 to 10 full quarter-mile passes. For power levels of 250 HP, 3 to 5 full quarter-mile passes may be expected. If nitrous is only used in 2nd and 3rd gears, the number of runs will be more.
I remember getting 6 -7 passes on my Cheater 210hp shot with a top of first engagement (4500rpm) through 2nd and 3rd to traps.

Edit: my filler also freezes my bottle prior to filling, so with a normal fill it could be less.

10 pounds of nitrous is 10 pounds of nitrous regardless of temperature.

I could probably get more than 3.5 runs out of my 10 pound bottle if I wasn't pushing a 15 second 5200 pound truck into the 13's spraying out of the hole.

I wasn't talking about temperature. NOS bases that on their test example - a mid size car weighing in at 3,300 - 3,500 pounds with a ~350ci motor. If your car is heavier and the motor is bigger, the results may vary. I guess you can say, the results you see, speaks for itself.

Freezing a bottle, before & after pumps, was the old school way of putting MORE nitrous in a bottle. You can safely put 12-15 lbs. in a 10lb. bottle. Would I recommend it for the guys that drive around with their bottles? NO!

I've done it multiple times, ran 3 passes and my bottle still weighs 25lbs., total weight. My friend Jim Bersani does it with 5 or 6 bottles at a time for his 6.90@190-ish mph Rail car. My brother also does it for his 7.80@180mph drag bike. You get more runs in with a bottle and more consistant bottle pressure.

Again, would I recommend it for the street driver? No!

Well not all nitrous fills are great. The place you got it filled could have filled it with more air than nitrous. I've seen some people around here having problems with there bottle fills every now and then. I would weight it and see what's really in it. Your pressure gauge might be off also. Who know lots of variables.
