you need to drain the bottle (got any ballons? haha), take out the valve. put on special pipe sealant and put it back together.

i used to work at a propane filling/ refurbishing place. i couldn't tell you the **** we used, but im sure any hardware store would have it. just tell them your propane tank is leaking and you are gonna replace the valve yourself.

propane= COLD as hell and physically similar to nitrous oxide. that **** won't leak. it also doesn't matter if you let it dry or not- i never worried about it and NEVER had a customer come back with a leaky tank (we would refurbish like 100+ tanks a day- even the HUGE *** ones).

i would not trust teflon- get the proper sealant so the bottle doesn't spring a leak when it reaches 1300 psi...

It almost sounds like you have a bad O-ring. I've replace many nitrous valves and I've never had to use teflon tape or thread sealer on my bottles, just the O-rings.

If nitrous is leaking around the bottom of the valve were it meets the bottle. Drain the bottle if anything is left, and unscrew the valve. The oring is bad and must be replace. We can sale you a replacement oring.
