Default How should I trigger my dual stage kit?

I thought about a few different ways.

Stage one on a window switch, stage two off in first gear, on in the rest.

Stage one on WOT switch, stage two set higher on window switch.

Both stages on window switches.

Maybe a digiset timer or something...

Obviously I'm worried about traction, which is the whole point of getting the dual stage here. I don't think I'll be able to (after this spring) hook up spraying out of the hole. I can get the weight transfer, but have too much gear and not enough tire.

What are some of the more proven ways to set these up?

I have a timing tuner and use the delay to lock out first gear on the first stage and a window switch for the second.

No matter which way works for you, the second stage should not be able to activate unless the first stage is on. That way if you get off the throttle your 2nd stage will go dead also.

I've been toying around with a second stage also. Is there some way you could show how to wire that up with the componants available through NX?

Mine is 1st stage thru the window switch, 2nd stage is activated by a button on the shifter or I can run them both at the sametime and control it with the progressive controller.

You could use another wot switch but my window switch is armed by the timing tuner when the first stage is on.

Here is a way to use the 2nd stage with a push button. Also there are other parts in this drawing, tps, switch panel, heater, purge, fpss, window switch. If there is any thing else you might need let me know. There are many ways to wire a dual stage this is only one. If you let me know what you have and the way you want it to work, I will try to draw it out for you.

Thanks Ricky, that's pretty much what I was expecting.
I'll probably just have to do the push-button method instead of fabbing up a first gear interrupt switch.

Check out link for another dual stage option. I am using the BMN window with first gear lockout. With this set-up no n2o in first then in 2nd 75 dry at 3200 and then (with msd window controled through BMN) a wet 150 at about 4500 or a little higher. Trying to get a dead hook without blowing vette rear. Same link is my web with other links/info.

Wiring schematic BMN/MSD dual stage

I have mine setup as two completely seperate systems, each stage has it's own seperate throttle position switch and it's own arming switch. This lets me launch on stage 1, or stage 2, or stage 1 and 2 together.

Adding to that, use two digi sets, and relays. Main relay to digi 1 for stage 1 set to 1.5sec, gets out of the 60' then digi 2 for stage set to 2 sec (or whatever) but relay is triggered off the first digiset. That way the 2stage wont fire w.o the 1st. Just a thought, but I like Gold Z's setup also, individual or when its time to put the kid gloves away both!

Wouldn't changing which stage runs alone change what you run for air/fuel ratio?

I figured it'd be better to always designate one stage to start, then both stages together. Unless the stages carry close to the same shot.
That way you can tune N/A air/fuel ratio, first stage air/fuel ratio, and second (first and second together) air/fuel ratio.
I'm running off the fuel rail, so having a set sequence would help compensate for any fuel pressure drop.

Right now I'm running a relatively mild 100 shot over a 100 shot for a total of a 200 shot when using both stages. Both stages seperately and together have had their a/f ratios set by Chris Robinson using RPM's dyno. The engine is built to handle a much bigger shot but since it is my daily driver I choose to be a little bit conservative. My last dyno, at AS Motorsports, a board sponsor, was 638 rwhp through an automatic transmission and a loose converter.

I just thought of something.
I've decided both solenoids will ground thru the window switch, but the second stage will be interupted by a momentary on switch.

But where's a good place to put it? I thought about in the ashtray, but I want to be able to keep both hands on the steering wheel when I hit the second stage.

Any Ideas?

Some guys have used a remote momentary switch which can be hand held. Looks like the coiled cable from a phone with push button on end and quick disconnect at dash area. I wouldn't do this myself because of user error unless it's wired through a window switch. I am adding a toggle switch to my 2nd stage to arm/disarm. And, 1st stage will allways be on line and ready. Have everything wired to switched 12v, so when ignition is on bottle opens, blanket starts warming and system is armed, allways ready.

I've set mine as such:
Master arm to WOT switch, to both solenoids, both solenoid grounds to window switch. Only difference between the two stages is that the second stage will have a momentary on switch before the window switch. I just need to figure out where to put it.

I figure when it activates, I'll want both hands on the steering wheel.
