Nitrous for 87,000 mile motor? Etc.
Is it a bad idea to put a 75-125 dry shot on a stock LS1 motor with 87,000 miles on it? I would mostly spray at the track and leave it off of the street.
I have the mods in sig, but nothing really done to the motor itself... If I am running around a 12.3 in the 1/4, what would a 125 shot put me? My 1/8th mile times are around 7.5, I think my problem is on the top end.
Any tips? Anyone feel like it is a bad idea to spray this motor? I have been against nitrous my whole life but now that I realize that it doesnt "absolutely destroy" engines nessesarrily I am tempted.
Thanks,
Brent

With all the proper safety measures in place you should be fine, go for it. I'm pushing 70,000 miles on mine right now (stock bottom end) and am getting ready to jump from a 150 shot to a 200 shot. I think my tranny or rear end will go before my motor.

75k miles here and no issues with the nitrous. Just like they said, be safe, set it up properly, and you will be fine. Otherwise, it will matter very little how many miles you have on your motor. Brand new motors pop just like old ones (but man does it ever hurt a whole bunch more when its a fresh one that goes).

I just sprayed mine to my first 12 second pass over the weekend. Still going strong, have been spraying for at least a year, sprayed at least 100 times of nothing less than a 150 shot.
