Default 100-150 shot setup

Has anybody here had a 100-150 nitrous setup for more than 5 years with no engine problems?

I'll bite. Just over 2 years. Well over 700 total 1/4 mi passes, of which 600+ were done in a 12 month span. I cannot begin to count lbs of nitrous. 150-175shot, some 200. NX Wet Kit, single nozzle, Walbro 340M intank. 24* total timing, TR6 plugs, or 5724-8's, gapped @ .032". No engine problems, other than maxing out the cylinder head flow. Blew 3-4 in the stock A4 (replaced with Cmotorsports Level 2 4L60E), bent the **** out the tailshaft mounted TA mount (replaced with a poly mount and new stock bracket), and **** about 5+ spider gear teeth out of the stock 10bolt POS (replaced with another stock 10bolt POS). Cut 1.4 60's, 11.001 @ 122.

Most people dont keep there cars that long.
A 150 shot on these cars is no problem.I wouldnt woory about hurting the motor. However after a while it will find the weak links in the drive train.

Im with Dave on this one. We've got several customers/friends running 150+ for a significant duration of time. Upgrade the fuel system, spend a little money on the tuning, and the motor will be fine. Everything downstream of the flywheel however, that will need help eventually. When "eventually" happens is mostly up to how you drive the car.

over 2 years at a 200 shot... only 20 1/4 passes or so... but lots of hi way runs... probably 30-50 bottles.... 2 trans and diff... .ONLY cause i used slicks without taking the other factors into consideration... but engine wise... as long as you keep fuel to it.. don't go crazy with the pills you will havew many years of enjoyment..

Dave
what about a 150rwhp shot on a stock tuned 5.3 truck ?

I have sprayed a 125 (crank HP) Shot about 200 times with no issues.

Now, I can live with that. Drivetrain I'm not too concerned about. It's only got 37,000 miles on it, though they're hard-driven miles. I think I'll get enough out of the tranny and rearend to eventually kill them without too much reservation.

The motor was the BIG $$ concern. Man, if I f$#@ed up my engine, it would take me a long, long time to recover from that. I appreciate all you folks information on this. I'm looking at a 100 shot with 125 or 150 pills to run at the dragstrip a couple times a year. I'll do all the safety stuff, as well.

A shop is gonna' do it for $1,800.00 ... includes wet kit, fuel pump, fuel regulator, window switch, and tuning. They are a good shop who back their work. I wanted soooo much to do AFR 205 heads, but, just not enough money to do both. My daughter starts college this year and my son needs a car, as well. Nitrous is the most practical way to get the power I want and need.

I'm thinking of doing a 75 dry shot and the 100 wet kit as a second stage. Is this a good idea or not? I'm thinking since I have never ran a NOS setup, I probably should just stick with the 100 wet, single stage. What do you think?

Wow, $1800, I need to get into nitrous installs quick. No need for a regulator, unless your setting up a stand alone system. Good luck and you will enjoy. Make sure you set up an allowance for bottle fills too!

... not sure if it's stand-alone or not ... what's the difference ... new to nitrous. Already scoped out a weekly drop-off point for the two 25 lb bottles ... hehehe!!! I'm thinking about mounting one right in the middle where the T-Top storage area is. ... build a cover for it so it's hidden. That would give me a little extra weight where it can provide a little better traction, I think.
