Default High Octane leaded - O2 sensor Q?

For those of you using high octane leaded fuel are you using aftermarket O2s?

a bunch of us down here are trying the Denso's right now. I will report how they work shortly when I begin tuning on leaded race gas. However...I will likely be going to a speed density tune later.

Al,
Are you using Denso 234-4087 & or 234-4012? The newer Denso Lead Resistant sensors?

Yes, we run 125 octane and NGK/NTK O2 sensors, which we clean with methanol after each run.

Cleaning them with methanol after evry run, how long are they lasting? O2's are cheap and I would hate to have to replace tehm every month or 2.

We've have made about 20 runs on the passenger side sensor and have just installed the driver's side sensor. They've also got some idle time on them. Ours are 5 wire (?) sensors and cost around $700/ea versus the stock LS1 sensor that cost $70/ea? I do not know how much life to expect out of them.

The Desnso's dont seem to work for crap. Doesnt seem like they heat well and are lazy to read. These are supposed to be direct replacement. Havent had a chance to look into this yet as I am still doing alot of other stuff. Plus we are doing a speed density tune on the car. I will report more later.

I was planning on going with the Denso after reading the article in GMHP but if no one else has info I might wait.
I had ran my stock ones, for over a year, after they met leaded race gas mix. I ran about 10 weekends with lead over the year or so, and they were actually fine til the car sat for long periods during my deployment.
$700 holy ****, I gripe about $170 w. shipping to hawaii for a set. Good God!

Wow, kinda surprised after reading about the GN guys having good success with the Denso's. Wonder what the deal is?

It may be due to running open headers right now with such a large cam. Im still checking stuff out. They really should work just fine. I mean...they are advertized as OEM direct fit replacements.

The info I ended up finding on an old GN thread was that those guys were going through 50 gals of fuel on a set of Denso O2s. Hope you get it figured out.

Eric. I have been running Denso's for a while. Still on 104 un-leaded, but no problems so far.

383 - I tried running open headers with my stock and Denso O2's. It really screwed things up. I "think" it was too much fresh air and than a mad dash of exhaust. Neither could handle the change. I added a billet muffer and no problem. I am switch to Eric's exhaust system - a 16" pipe. This should allow for the O2s to read the air correctly.

Cool David. I was hoping that Al's situation was due to the open headers and that the short exhaust would help.
