Default 5177 vs. Halo Ring

i know opinions are like a holes, but. i need to decide which way to go.

I have a stock short block.. H/C cam with 11.1 compression. 2000 ss A4.

i dont want anything to large. just a small kit that will get me the little bit of extra HP i need to get the ET i want.. i am pretty familiar with nitrous kits, and understand the difference between wet and dry kits, i just want to know if you would choose the halo set up or the 5177. and why..

I would personally choose Nitro Daves Halo setup. I like the idea of how the N20 is distributed, and I believe he uses NX parts in the kit. Which I prefer over NOS.

thanks for the input, to be honest, i was leaning towards the Halo ring anyways, but havent known anyone with it. I just need some encuoragment to make me think it is the better choice.

My vote is for the Halo as well... I have a NOS 5177 Kit I was going to use with my NX Wet Kit for a dual stage Dry/Wet setup but I really like the idea of the Halo. Seems like it would be a more efficient method for spraying smaller dry shots (something a little different as well).

I e-mailed Dave last night to find out how much it would run for the Halo and components needed for the dry stage. The price of the entire kit is pretty damn good IMO either way.

I think the halo is going to give the 5177 a run for it's money, maybe. I wonder what all is included in the kit? and price? It doe's look to be well engineered.

I like the idea of a ring inside of the lid... I'm wanting to drill in to my SCC Airbox as little as possible and it appears as though the Halo would be what I'm looking for.

The description only said solenoid so I'm guessing that it doesn't. BTW, according to that March sale that Dave posted in this forum... the kit is only $460 right now.

The solenoids that we use in our system our top quality solinoids.We felt that with the quality of these solenoids adding another one like NOS would just raise the price of the system.We believe it would be over kill.Of coaurse if you wanted two solenoids thats not a problem for us to put together for you.We can also make the inlet fitting on the spray bar come up through the filter so you do not have to drill any holes in your lid.
We have these system on special right now for 460.00.

i like the idea of having the 2 noids inline. Also the 5177 comes with a fuel pressure safety switch if you choose to use it.

Can you get jets to spray a bigger shot or does that kit max at 80hp

The kit will spray more.You will have to purchase the extra jets.

i have been told that with a 5177 kit when you spray 125 you realy only get about 80 to the wheels anyway...and that is why the halo kit is 80 hp, its rated at the wheels. any truth to this?

I believe the 5177 is rated flywheel power and not at the wheels. A 125 shot should be a little higher than 80rwhp however. There's a video on the forums of someone testing out their Halo Kit... believe they had it jetted for 200.

Hey Dave, Could you PM/E-mail me with how much it would cost for just the spray bar with an N20 solenoid? I believe I can piece together the remaining parts that I'd need for the dry stage myself.

a nos 5177 125 jetting gets you 95-105rwhp.

it came down to money for me the 5177 kit was used and cheap.daves is better if you have the cash.he is also very helpful which is a plus.as far as what you can put down with the 5177 I am running no jets.I put down 390s NA and 535 on the bottle.I have 5.3 heads ported and a 224/224 cam.

I have a 5177, got it cheap, hardly ever use it though.
