Purge Question
Someone told me that I don't have to get a purge kit, but that I can go get a fittings and some hose, and voila, purge without spendin like a hundred bucks.
Can I really do this
It would save me some money because, at this point I need a bottle heater with the thermostat and pressure switch.

do it right or don't do it at all. now- you don't NEED a purge at all but if you want to get rid of the air in the line then get a designated purge solenoid. even if it is the cheapest one out there (less than 100$ im sure) it is better than what you are proposing.

i bought a zex purge solenoid for my first nitrous setup about 3 1/2 years ago, and i love it back then i think it was supposed to be the biggest solenoid out there, i have had no problems with it, i think i paid like $95 for it.
I know. I have a show truck that I want to go faster, but have purge as show too.
As for now, I need a heater with the switch, so purge is gonna have to come later. I was really just wondering a cheaper way to do it cause I am strapped for cash a bit.

I can't say I agree with comments above about doing it as a part of the burnout. There's alot of us who only can go part throttle during a burnout to keep off the limiter and the nitrous is activiated via WOT switch. A purge is not a necessity unless you're trying to get every bit out of power from your system.
Purging is not pointless! A purge is also very useful if you have a specific bottle pressure that gives you the best results and your bottle pressure is too high you can bump the purge to bring the pressure to where you want it. Of course it looks cool as **** as well!
is there different size purge solenoids?? reason I ask is because the big boys that race, like 8-9 sec cars, when they purge, the damn thing shoots up like 10ish feet in the air. When I purge, its only about 5 feet or so... does this have to do with the solenoid, or does bottle pressure have anything to do with it? I'm running the nitrous works system...

assuming that you know what you're doing (excluding certain members), it's absolutely fine to purge into a running engine in very short bursts, and even at part throttle. I can't believe what I read on here sometimes.

I purge into the engine during the burnout....
I also dissagree with WOT switches as a concept. Terribly dangerous things. Just use a button and none of the purge worries are there.
I really don't think I've ever been intimidated by a guy with a big purge.
1) Purging anywhere but as close to the nozzle as possible leaves gas in the lines. Purging into the engine is the only way to insure there is no gas in the line period.
2) There is no such thing as too much bottle pressure. Why in the world would you waste bottle pressure you paid money to get with a heater. I have NEVER... EVER wished I had less bottle pressure.
3) Looking cool as hell and comparing purge heights is not a concern. You might as well buy Nozzle lights and strobes.
Save the money on a "purge" valve and spend it on mods that actually work towards making you faster.
