Default Alternative to a Blown down tube

I would much rather run a flex line off the bottle to a bulk head fitting cut in the floor board for the blow down tube. The hard tube is a pain in the *** and looks like crap.

What size AN line would I need and I guess the bukhead fitting would be the same.

I am guessing maybe 12-14 inches of line will be more than enough

Ideas or anyone that has done it? NXRicky or Nitro Dave?

The line would be -8. Go with steel braider hose that will be legal at any track.

I used a -8 to -4 reducer and -4an braided hose to -4 bulkhead. Haven't had it teched, but don't see why it would be a problem.

It'll only be a problem when the pressure doesn't vent quick enough through the -4 line. They set them at -8 to get the volume flow off the bottle as quick as possible. Otherwise, you shouldn't have any problems with a -8 steel braided line. I run mine that way as well.

I used 8 and it has worked just fine for me. The bulkhead under the car is a dead giveaway though

It doesn't seem to me that it would make that much difference if it took say 60 sec vs 30 sec to vent the bottle... the main purpose is to not vent it in the passenger compartment. Maybe someone who's familiar with tech procedures can weigh in on this?

I think what Derty is saying is that they use a -8 tube because they nitrous is at about 3000PSI when the burst disk ruptures. That 3000 psi may not be getting out through a -4 line fast enough to bleed off the pressure to prevent something else from happening like blowing the bulkhead fitting out of your floor pan.

It doesnt seem possible but 3000psi is a extreme amount of force.

I know 3000 psi can produce a large force if a rupture occurs, but have you ever seen the flow you get from a wide open -4an line. When I first installed my system, I purged it out of the mainline to make sure no debris was in the system. As soon as the wide open flow starts through a -4an line, the pressure will drop quickly and the bottle will cool from the release, lowering the pressure even quicker.

I'm not saying I know for sure it will pass tech (although I think it would), but I think -4an is more than adequate.

I have the short blow off tube that comes with the nx kit installed. I added a piece of this plastic nylon braided hose to it and ran it out of the car. Think that will pass tech?

My friends and I are running an -8an steel braided line, from the blow down disk, through the floor, out side one of the drain plugs that are in the floor pans of our car's. So far no one's blown a bottle, but they do look alot better than anything else out there.
