Default Launching with big convertor?

If I have my window switch set to spray from 3000-6000, whats the best way to keep the spray off while staging? If I rev the car to 4000 to launch, its gonna spray, which will be bad. I could kill the arming switch but that seems dumb. Ideas?

You should have some sort of 100% throttle position switch. Either through the TPS or a mechanical switch attached to your throttle body.

yeah, don't put your foot on the floor while staging. Just give it enough throttle to get it up on the converter, then when the lights drop hit it and off you go!

What kind of tranny?? -- well I guess it wouldn't really matter. I am a big believer in the 2-step. Do a search. I have posted a lot on this subject.

IMO it is almost impossible to get the max out of the car if you are trying to hold the gas at 3/4 or 90%. With the 2-step set-up you can slam it to the floor and leave on the entire shot.

And how can a timing tuner - based on RPM's stop nitrous from engaging when I want to leave off my converter and transbrake at say 4200rmps????

Duh, I totally forgot about my WOT switch. Thats what happens when your car isn't at home.

I was talking about for staging only, when the lights drop, hammer down and off you go. If he had a 2-step setup to not allow it to get up to the window switch RPM then he wouldn't be using his converter to it's maximum potential.

A Matt Harlan 2 step wired to the trans brake will allow you to mash the gas to the floor and won't engage the N20 until you release the trans brake thus allowing you to get up on the converter. I've got mine wired this way and the line lock is also wired to the trans brake so I don't get any creep when I hit the T brake.

yes but if he has a converter thats loose enough to see a 4000 foot stall then it's way to loose to spray on. he has his nitrous wired 3000-6000 if he has a converter that will stall to 4000 just footbraking than it's so loose when he launches on spray it's going to flash probably hard enough it will be tripping the top rpm of the window switch. plus if it's that loose he'll end up driving through the converter on the top end if the car makes any decent hp on the spray.

does it wire inline with the WOT or TPS switch?

No. It actually cuts off the "power" to the silenoids until trans brake is release - than it releases the 2-step, which releases the nitrous. Does that make sense??

yeah, so I could do the same thing with a button then? I don't have a trans brake, but I will have a line lock.

don't try to substitute line lock for transbreak....

you got a street car, don't worry about transbreak...

Yust give it foot throtle tp stage it to 3800-4000 and then cut it loose on the bottle...if it spins, try the same technique at 3500 rpm (flashing the converter with the nitrous) and keep going down to about 2500 just to see how the car reacts and launches, as well as seeing if it drive through th econverter on the nitrous.

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to converters. What exactly does "drive through the converter" mean?
