Question Ive got a problem

Ive got me a problem! I have a 1999 Trans Am WS6 automatic with a best run of a (60'-1.883) (330-5.154) (1/8th-7.820 @91.98MPH) (1000-10.132) (1/4-12.075 @116.7MPH) w/ Eagle f1 tires and nos 100 shot, headers, lid, fast toys ram air, bellow, cutout, gutted. everything else stock. I then put in some tokico front and rear shocks which dropped my times 2 tenths and same MPH. I then put in a vigilante 3200 stall, shift kit, 26x10x15 MY slicks and a 100 shot and my times dropped to (60'-1.715) (330-5.029) (1/8th-7.782 @88.56MPH) (1000-10.183) (1/4-12.221 @110.91MPH) I wasnt too happy then i bumped the shot up to a 150 (all same mods as just before) and my times were as follows (60'-1.843) (330-5.155) (1/8th-7.910 @89.95MPH) (1000-10.334) (1/4-12.383 @110.32MPH) As you can see im losing huge MPH and my E/T is slower also my motor didnt experience any damage thats noticable and it drives perfect. Any suggestions on what the problem could be? Any insite would be awesome! Thanks

Are you running an NOS dry or wet? I think that your 1/8 & 1/4 times are off base for what you have. My first though is you may have a fuel issue and the car simply isn't making any power. Have you ever had the car hooked up to a wide band to see where your air fuel ratio is at. A stock fuel system really can't support a 150 shot weather it's wet or dry.

Its a dry shot and i had it hooked up to a dyno when the car was stock and the a/f was around 12.0 (no nitrous). I have hp tuners how can i check the a/f with that? So should i go with an upgrade on the fuel system? and also even with the 100 shot and the new mods i still dropped big time

I really don't know the ins and outs of HP Tuners but the A/F ratio it gives you is not all that accurate since it's going off the stock O2 sensors. Non the less I would be looking for the factory O2s to be holding atleast .890mv or so on the bottle. I'd place a major bet that your injectors are completly maxed on the 150 shot. When I had the 5177 I ran out of injector at a 125 shot. You can check your injector duty cycle with HPT. I would expect atleast 11.8 at about 120mph out of the car once you get things worked out.

Thanks for the input. I hope thats the only problem. Do you think a 3.73 would help me out any? Also even with the 100 shot back in i still went slower why is this? The injectors cant be maxed at 100 shot?!?! Any other suggestions on some mods to push me into the 10's would be GREAT!

Hey man, whats up? Its me, the guy with the red WS6 today at the gym in Lauderdale....Lyle.

You'll get more replies on this, but like I told you today I think you need bigger injectors and as "GM Muscle" said, you need to get a complete tune by someone who knows their ****. Jeremy Formato in Tampa is supposed to be the man. I need a new tune too, maybe we can drive'em there together pretty soon. I think I'm just gonna go TNT 150 wet for now.

Hey lyle. Yea i think i need the tune but i might wait untill i get a cam becuase i know that ill need a tune again after i get one so i may wait. Im gonna do some more research on what kind of injectors to get (size), any suggestions? I was also thinking that its possible that timing is being pulled out (too much). I dont know guess ill wait to see if anybody else shines some light on the subject.

I think he is also probrably right with the tune. My 5177 always ran on the lean side and that's why I dumped it. What are your N/A times, and what are you running your bottle psi at? I would log a bunch of runs with HPT, I'm no tuner but I would mainley watch the front O2s, timing, and knock.

My N/A Times is a best of a 13.0 Which is pretty sad =(. I only gained 2 tenths after the converter, shift kit and slicks. Im going to a little 1/8th mile track this saturday and im going to see what kind of runs i get out of it. ill scan all my runs and see what the knock, timing and o2's are doing.

Im heading over to immokale (however you spell it) On saturday my neighbor has a drag car he just rebuilt and hes running over there so i wanna test my car while i watch him. i wish my car was like his. its sick his best run was 7.34 @194 with his old setup now he has twin t88 turbos and a good chasis hes hoping high 6's on a 10.5 inch tire. No street car mind you. Tracks in the middle of nowere and last time i went i got like 20 runs no problem. its a good track to get stuff tuned in. for 1/8th mile.

I'll go too, if I'm home. If I have to go out and fly I can't.

I'll call you later in the week.

Also, you really shouldn't spray nitrous anymore until you get bigger injectors, the Racetronix fuel system and a new tune.

do you have a bottle heater?

Sounds like the system is working. I would get a full bottle, get a heater if you dont have one. get the bottle pressure up to 1100 psi and then spray on a dyno with a wideband. Then let us know what happens.

yea i have a heater and it was on during all track runs and the dyno runs. NOTE: when i purged at the dyno no white smoke came out (It usually does) Could this mean the nitrous was barelly getting into the motor? If so Are my track times still sounding correct they were all on pretty much full bottle upwards of 1100 psi.
