Certifiicate needed to buy nitrous? New Law?
I have hear a few folks talk about a new law requirng a certificate to buy nitous. Anyone else hear this? It was in New Jersey. I guess due to liability they want to cover themselfs with this certificate. Sounds like all the states will be doing thise soon. The up side might be that the price of nitrous will go down if the liability is removed or reduced. Anyone have first hand experience with this?

Dan,
I have had customers thell me that they were given a hard time to get nitrous.I may be wrong here but the reason why is that they call it nitrous. The supply company thinks they are talking about medical grade nitrous.Which you do have to be certified to get.Your customer needs to tell them that its nitrous pluss and maybe explain the use and tell them it has a sulphur content added in.

Dave, the companies said the kids are buying filters and filtering out the Sulpher. Thats why they will not sell any Nitrous to Anyone wihtout a cert. Plus im sure they like the cash...$20 for one year. This is all second hand info from a customer. I hope its not the wave of the future...

Well now that is goning to suck if that passes. When state try to outlaw or sircharge customers in the speed area. Anyway, some states have tried to outlaw nitrous but the sema group have been able to get those laws tweeked. Next thing you know, they are going to tax your kits for the size pill you are running, or the boost level of the turbo kit. Tax tax tax alls that is going to happen are people are jsut going to break the law and now run to try and get away with it. This really sucks. I am done venting sorry.

Dan,
Hopefully sopmeone from NJ can clarify this, but I remeber reading that NJ has a strange law kinda like you described. I thought that you need a placard on your car or in the window if you have N20.
Like i said, I'm not 100% on that, but someone here has got to be from NJ and can chime in....

NJ has had this law for a long time. It is a controlled substance so you can get heavily fined if you do not have a permit. We have personal carry permits, a business carry permit/sales.

It's actually no big deal to get, they just want some $$$
I think you just call NJDOH and they transfer you to the correct extension.
There are worst things.

In Michigan it is a law that you have to have a Green Triangle sticker in the rear window if the line is hooked up to the bottle in the car. No sticker needed if it is not hooked up. But I have never seen it inforced.
