Default Bad surging on the bottle.

Ok, when I hit the NOS I am geting a bad surge. What could be the problem?
I have an NOS dry kit with 2 solenoid and no purge yet. Could I have a bad solenoid? I am runing a 100 shot to the rear wheels, and the car has been tuned and runs real good off the NOS.

Check your FPSS, if you are using it.

it could very well be the solenoids...you might also want to check to see if the bottle line is kinked or if the is a bad bind in it...

A bad ground wire from the solenoids could cause it.
Also, you do have the bottle valve facing the front of the car front elevated ~20-30 degrees, right?
How full was the bottle before/after the run?

I've noticed that recently a lot of peple are overfilling their bottles. They'll put 12 lbs in a 10 lb bottle or 17 lbs in a 15 lb bottle. That will kill any kind of consistancy you might have. Most of the big nitrous guys will actually leave a pound out of the bottle. It makes for a much more consistant car.

On another post, "What not to do with NOS", surging was caused by the fuel solenoid not working.

I have seen surging from a low bottle in one of my friend's car ... he had a bottle heater, but remember that pressure is NOT volume ...

Here is what I would do....go down to the 75shot and see if it is surging. If it is surging on the 75shot then you might just have a fpss that is set to low....your LS1 kit fpss is "supose" to be set at 50psi.

To know for sure if that is the problem....if it surged on the 75shot....then bypass the fpss by grounding the micro to the chasis and see if the surging problem goes away.

In "theory" your fpss should NOT be shutting your system down on the 100shot(.032jet X 2) when your motor is stock......your mods look to be a lid and air filter. If you had a cam/headers ect....without the fuel system to suport it this would make since.

My suggestion may not solve the problem but it should narrow down your trouble shooting options.

My Air/Fuel is at 12.3 with the NOS on the dyno.
I am runing .038jets X 2 to put a 100 to the rear wheels.
I have a new FPSS.
The car was tuned on the dyno with the NOS by Jeremy Formato at Rev-Xtreme and the car did not show anything on the dyno it put down 413/436.

And the only mods are lid, K&N, LM-SLP cat-back and tune.
We also put TR-6s in the day we dynoed it.

I just pulled the solenoids off and one of them were loose ( the big nut on the bottom) you could take it off with your hands with out even trying.
I hope this will be the problem! I will find out tomorrow if this big *** hurricane does not effect central FL to bad.

I have a new FPSS
I just had basically the same problem. Have you held the nitrous line out and hit it to see if you are getting a steady stream? My brand new FPSS was set very high and therefore would not let the nitrous spray. It would make the nitrous come on and off very quickly which sounds like what your kit is doing. I had to adjust the FPSS to get it working. There have been a few problems with them lately I have noticed on the board. Another check would be to take the main line loose and turn the bottle on a little and see if you are getting a steady stream there. Sometimes there are pieces in the braided line called "Flappers" where part of the hose is hanging down inside the line blocking passage. These are factory defects. I would start with the FPSS though

So you are running the 125hp shot....maybe the stock fuel system cannot handle it....I know that you said that on the "dyno" that the car ran fine. Maybe since you are on the street the car is getting more "air" at moving speed and causing a lean condition. Just a thought, try droping down too the 100shot.

Ok I jumped the FPSS and the car is now NOS happy. So how do I tell if the car is not putting out enough FP or the FPSS is not set proper or is bad (keep in mind the FPSS is new).

Is there an adjustable FPSS for these cars, or is there a way to adjust the NOS FPSS, or do you think I need a fule pump?

Tkanks for all the info!!

Just make sure you don't set it so low that it defeats the purpose of having it there.
