my question is... Whats the Fastest times for a 400+ CI block and what is the highest rwhp...

if i can still get the power and ET i want out of the N20 ill stick with it.

1000 + RWHP would be doable with the proper set up. Figure in at least 12:5.1 comp, solid roller, and a good set of heads. We're finishing up a 383 that will be right around there.

I am shooting for between 900-1000 rwhp on my 415 solid roller. Thats roughtly 750 rwtq at 7000 rpms = 999 rwhp.

I really dont think it will be that difficult...we made 868 rwhp on a mild hydraulic cam 408 ci setup that made right around 500 rwhp on motor. It was a neat...but fairly basic setup using dual stages dry/direct port controlled by the NX dual stage controller.

I believe you will need to use either staged nitrous or a controller.

I will be using the Maximizer.
BTW..My 415 ci motor and nitrous setup may be for sale in a few months.

I'd say a low compression 402 with a good sized turbo would be the way to go if you have all the other stuff to support it.

I would say iron block, 1/2 '' studs and oring the block. Keeping head gaskets in the motor is the trick, tons of cylinder pressure. That aside your et goal should be a walk in the park.

I'm shooting for high 8's on pump gas with my solid 427. Not sure what shot yet, but I can go to 500 if needed. Should fall somewhere between 900-1000 rwhp depending on the pills.

Although I'm starting to think that a turbo would be the way to go if I were to start from scratch. I started adding up all my n2o crap and realised I could of done a turbo for not a whole lot more. There is nothing cheap about n2o when you spray a big shot. My new setup is going to burn roughly 7 pounds a pass when it's on kill, ouch, good thing I have a refill station in my trailer now.

Your right about the cost of a turbo set up but I think it would be more durable in the long run. My 408 makes 484 RWHP N/A and 725RWHP on a 300 shot. It ran a 9.23@149.1 MPH at last years Thunder Shoot out. As has already been stated the hard part about a high compression 408 on the bottle is keeping the heads down. If you are intent on building a 408 on the hose use 1/2" ARP head studs, "O" ring the cylinders and use head blanks with thick deck heights.
