I am still not 100% happy with the lines but we're getting there. What do you guys think, I need some help getting this finished.

Its looking good.Im guessing you are going to polish the rails? Its hard work huh.Now you see why we charge 350 for doing that. Many man hours. You are doing a great job Keep it up.

I am just a perfectionist. I am not 100% happy because there are differences within the lines and I have yet to figure out exactly how to bend the lines and get repeatable results. We're either going to polish the rails or powdercoat them mirror black. Your not lying about hard work!

Tomorrow we're going to drill the driver side, start fabrication on the aluminum brackets for the rails and solenoids.

I am very **** about this stuff also. At work sometimes I'll have a piece that has 10/15 bends, going around somthing, up a wall across a bulk head... I have rebent pieces many times. What I do to be consistant is use witness marks. Like Dave said it is good for a first timer. It can take a long time to get it down where you are quick and correct. It allways feels good to do your own work, though, so the pay off will be well earned.

Phil,

It really looks good. I've fabbed up two kits now and I'll can assure you that you'll always see things everybody else doesn't. There's slight differences in bends that I've made that just jump out and scream at me and I realize I'm the only seeing it.

Kudos on a job well done.

Looks very cool!

I'm curious though, is there any particular reason why you decided to go with hard lines as opposed to braided? Is there some advantage?

Seems it would be one hell of a lot easier to use braided lines on a direct port setup.

You could bend ever tube the same put on the intake and they will look different.. Think about it this way.. To be perfect which it can not, you would have to have ever nozzle the same depth, ever nozzle fitting the same depth, nozzle install on the same angle(that one is pretty easy with a mill), ever nozzle rotated the same. Ans then all that and now on the rail side also..
Man looks killer to me.

Phil,
Overall the install looks great. No one is going to point and say "hey that one line is slightly different then that one". No one. When the manifold is in the car the overall effect will blind everyone to any imperfections you yourself see. Trust me. I look at mine and say the same things, that I should have bent a line differently or something, but when I show the car EVERYONE just freaks and they will do the same with yours. Trust me.
From what I see on your install is MUCH more work then my set up. Having the rails does seem to be a bigger pain to setup. More drilling and tapping as well as the polishing...Wow. I like the look though. Keep up the good, no wait, great work!

Braided line will make changing jets a lot easier. But then you would have to fabricate a bracket to hold the twin nitrous/fuel rails stationary.

Some kits are a BITCH to install aren't they. I spent one month just trying to decide where to mount solenoids and route purge line.

Good luck PHIL

Looks great..kinda of topic but if you want to polish the rails use "Easy off' cleaner on the anodizing it will come off alot easer.... just FYI...

Wire ties are your friend.

I've seen the NX fuel rails simply wire-tied to the stock rails. Fact is, this is exactly what I did with the solenoids on my setup.

Getting back to my original question, am I correct in assuming then that hard lines are used for their aesthetic appeal and not because of some performance advantage over braided ones?

The hard line setups certainly do look cool!

The only advantage I see going with hard lines over braided is $$$. And I personally think hard lines look cooler, more old school...
