thanks for the complements. Yes the noids got moved, they hit the valve cover so i switched sides. I took the T/A out tonight and smoked a modded fox body 5.0. Just got to adjust the carb, got a bad off idle stumble.

That Intake is the weiand action plus for vortec heads...Do you know alot about tuning holley double pumpers? I bought the carb slightly big so when i go 383 next rebuild i wouldnt have to buy another. Right now I'm pushing 330 rated hp at the crank, and have a bad off idle stumble. I was going to try lowering the squirter size for the accelerator pump and drop 4 jet sizes to correct fo the bigger carb and altuitude 5000ft ASL. Do you have any recomendations for tuning???

Check and see if the stumble is too much fuel or not enough.. Alot of timing those squirters are set a little loose from the factory. Mkae sure you have your vacuum advance on the port vaccum not venturi vacuum that can cause all type of problems.
WIth an adjustable curve dist. and adjustable just give your self a little more timing on the low end and leave your high end alone. That helps a bunch in the off idle and curse mode where there is no load on the engine.

I didnt tune my carb, Speed-O-Motive did it on an engine dyno. I can tell you a little about what's in the motor and tell you how the carb is set up, they were nice enough to give me a print out of the exact carb set up from the SuperFlow machine. Here's what I got; 68-78 jets with a 3.5 power valve. Now this is on a 6" rod stroker with a comp 294 Hydraulic roller cam (110 LSA), Dart pro 1 alloy 215cc intake heads, the victor jr intake, and crane 1.6 roller rockers. I had it built for pump gas running a 11.0.1 compression ratio. It made peak corrected HP of 515.5 @ 6200 RPM and peak Torque of 481.4 @ 5200 rpm In Colorado, so I guess thats some altitude compaired to where I live in Louisianna. I could tell you a lot more about my combo but it would have noting to do with how to tune the carb. I plotted very methodicly for 3 years about how to make a 500 hp SBC motor thats very streetable and only bored .030 over so it would run cool and last a long time. Essentially I wanted a car I coud take on something like Power Tour and not worry about.

On the tuning, I think you guys are on track with jetting down and adjusting the accel pumps. this is often the case on a carb that's to big (you have a reason though) and I have made this mistake a few times. I know holley used to have a very good tech line, with some guys that really know there stuff. I used to use them to help set-up TM-1 dual-quad tunnel rams on various size engines and they usually had a correct starting point. good luck.

Found this online and seems to be dead on...I jump from a 28 to a 31 nozzel and its much better, Im picking up a 32 and a 35 later on today...

Double pump mechanical secondary
carburetors initially depend
only on the accelerator pumps to provide
adequate fuel until enough air
flow can be
established to begin pulling in the
main system. The larger the carburetor
the higher the air flow required to
accomplish this. If the carburetor is
too large, the pump shot will be consumed
before the main system starts.
The result is a “bog” or a “sag”.
