Default Pressure Switch - propane

I'm looking for a pressure switch for Propane. I need something around 150-170psi with the smallest working window I can find. 160 +/- 5 degrees would be great. Or doesn't anyone else have a different idea how to regulate propane pressure.

The NOS bottle heater uses thermastatic control and will heat your propane bottle to just the right temp and to about 160psi, it does this with 85* thermastats. It's the best most effective way for propane use. standard way as far as I know. Do a search on propane and you will find a thread with more propane info than any where else. Good luck, and you can pm me on any propane tech.

Won't pressure change much with just a thermostat as propane weight drops?

I forget the exact amount, but you'll see very little change in pressure at 85*. also you'll fill your nitrous bottle, many, many, many times before a refill is needed on your propane bottle, so pressure drop is so slow and mild, as to be a non issue.

I got a NOS warmer and if I put the thermostat 180 degrees from the warmer mounted between the velcro and the bottle pressure gets over 200. If I put the thermostat behind the warmer pressure only gets to 130. I guess I'll keep playing with placement to get me in the 160 range.

That seems very strange. Eighty five degrees is 85*, and it should shut down. I have mine under the straps and it heats it to right where it should be, call NOS tech, maybe you have a faulty thermastat. Also, with propane you have a large window of tuning, meaning a propane jet of one size will be used for a wide range of hp (and only changing n2o jet). This can be seen in the bottle temps, with the middle ground of the jet list i have given in the past being at approx 160psi. So, if your a little bit above or below it won't really matter. Check your a/f by scanning to see for sure.

I have my car setup for 150-165psi and with the pills I'm running dyno at 660/880 with high 11's AF. I'm just trying to get the pressure to stay consistant so I don't have to play with it every pass. Do you have your thermostat under the warmer or the strap? Does yours have 2 thermostats that you wire together?

We use to sell a heater kit made for the Propane tank that used a pressure transucder.
Real acurate, adjustable....Very slick.....Bad news is that we sold like two......LOL
Yes really.......We have not made one in about 4 years!

Wish I had one laying around.....

We were using our Nitrous pressure Gauge sending unit. Problem is that the sending unit uses very small voltages. Checkout MSI sensor in allied electric? I think they make a pressure sensor that will work with the propane. Problem is that the propane needs to use a fully sealed sesnor so a spark does not happen. They probably sell a pressure sensor with linear output @ 0-5V
You would need a circuit to control the heater...Not that easy to do...
