Default Contemplating nitrous ideas...

So I have finally convinced myself that I'm going to run a 100 dry shot of nitrous on my full bolt on car. I don't plan on spraying that often but I wanna do it right. What's the best and safest system without spending a lot of money for a 100 dry shot? What all should I buy? What precautions should i take without burning up a piston? My car is tuned with incarease spark at WOT will that affect the stability when spraying? I'm still doing my research and don't know everything so can someone give me expert advise in what I'll be looking at getting and where I should go to get it?

Thanks,
-Brian

I would suggest the usual safety items, like a RPM window switch, fuel pressure safety switch and then the colder plugs and a bottle heater (even though it's a dry kit). With your mods and stock injectors you’re at that point imo. If you do want to play it a little safer stick some 30 - 32s lbers in there. Depending on how much timing was advanced you might want to pull a few degrees. The dry shot will pull some automatically, but it may/may not be enough. As far as kits, we are having a special on them:

Things you will need to make sure you have are fuel pressure saftey switch, rpm activation switch, a tune and also possibly injectors if yours are still stock. Here are some sponsers that have dry kits.

Thanks guys for all the help! I would also like to know how necessary are the injectors? They're a little pricey and I don't plan on doing much more mods after this.

Don't forget the PRO Dry kit from Nitrous Direct. The priemer dry kit. Absolutly the best dry kit on the market. At 525 it includes the fpss and NHRA blow down, has a 400hp noid with a lifetime warranty, dual SS nozzles and much more. if your interested, I'll post the intro link thread for ya. can't beat this kit. Need to know a little more on your car to determine if you need injectors.

Shop around. Look at the whole package and not just one fancy feature.

Just keep in mind if you go much higher your gonna need injectors and a fuel pump for safety… then you'll need a tune. It might not be an expense you want to pay out but thats the price you pay.

There are many dry systems on the market. I suggest looking the complete package over. Solenoid, warrenty, bottle valve, bottle brackets, etc.

Then pic the system that best fits your needs. I have noticed most of all the dry kits are priced around the same.

We offer many different dry systems and can build to suit your needs. Feel free to check us out.

I think, the best thing to do is get a dry kit only. Then buy a wideband a/f Gauge and keep bumping the jets until you get to 100hp. This way you always know whats going on, no guessing. If you only get to 75hp and it starts to run a bit lean then you need fuel upgrades.... Then add the heater kit afterwards.....Just trying to save you some money...

As far as how bad you need injectors you other mods would be a big factor knowing you current pulse width or duty cycle would help a lot. I know injectors seem expensive now but when your buying a new moter that few hundred bucks for injectors wouldent seem so bad. Plus you gunna need them in the future any way i have a hard time beliving you will get a 100 shot and call it a day i see more mods in you futre.

If you want to be really safe a 2 channel wide band like FJO's that will shut the system down if it gets too rich or too lean. They are not cheap but it now includes a TPS and a window switch and they did not raise the price. You do not have to have one but do your research, there are a number of things that can go wrong and grenade your motor. If that does happen what can you fix for a few hundred bucks

Actually my tuner has just got his wideband in and will be using that to tune my car so i should be good to go. To see my full mod list click my cardomain link in my sig.

Would it be safe to just go with a fuel injectors from an 02 z28? my stock ones are 26.2lbs and his I believe are 28.8 lbs with the 01/02 model.

28 are better than the 26's, but to be sure follow the above advice and work your way up and log to be certain.
