tell us about your setup and how it happened? Do you have a window switch...what was it set at? Did you bog? Pedal it? Was the setuyp ever tuned on a dyno with a wideband?

Are the three little wires on your MAF sensor still there. Do you have an SES light?
May want to get a new MAF if there is any question about the functionality of yours. If it works and doesnt set a code...dont worry about the screen. Although hopefully you will find it to make sure its not somewhere its not supposed to be. Closely inspect yuor intake to make sure there are no cracks..especially in the back where the MAP sensor is. You may want to remove the intake to do this.
If everything is ok....replace the parts that are unservicable and you should be back to normal.

ok , last week i changed my pressure gauge from a dynotune to an autometer on the pillar , and i had to cut a wire or wires under my dash . so after all that my nitrous wouldn't spray SOOO dumbass wanted to go racing and i bypassed my window switch to make it spray with my button.
well last night i wanted to show off a little in front of this yellow diablo in hickory, and i hit the button and the gas at the same time or so i thought and boom

i pulled over and my k&n was smoking and their was burn marks on my lid and it would not idle .
so i got home today and pulled it all off and my wires and my screen are gone from my mass air , i think my lid will be ok but i need a new filter and mass air
their were a FEW chunks of the screen in the filter but that was it i drove the car about 60 miles back home with no oil pressure issues just no mass air

I am real sorry this happened, however, feel lucky that it wasn't worse. Yea, this is why we all preach WS, as this can greatly reduce the chance of something happening. The screen must be somewhere, I don't think it would have been injested? Now I am not preaching at ya, as I have also run without a ws, and was lucky. These days my motto is, WS installed and working.

If you didn't blow any holes in the lid or filter...and can't find the mass air screen, well there are only 2 places it could be. Burned up, or it got sucked in. Pull that manifold off and go searching.

I had a backfire the first time I sprayed. But I have never had another problem. I still do not have a window switch.

Next time keep that screen popped out...just in case.

I know you drove the car 60 miles after and think the manifold is probably fine, but I would still pull it off to be safe. I had a bad backfire and couldn't stop thinking about it until I tore my manifold off and checked every inch of it for cracks.

Dont beat yourself up. You just need to determine whats broke and replace it. I think you have learned any lessons about using "buttons". Just be sure your kit is fully operational with WS before using again. Alos be sure its activated with a WOT switch if you dont have one.

Good luck.

I would probably pull the intake and check everything out.
It's alot cheaper then a new motor.
