Default Do you need an AN wrench?

My kit is used and the fitting look like hell already. Is there any reason to get an actual AN wrency over using just a normal open end wrench?

How tight are you wrenching on these fittings as well?

You don't have to but it makes it easier. After screwing up a couple of fittings I got an edelbrock bottle/combo wrench from summit works great, fits tighter than an open end wrench http://images.google.com/imgres?imgu...lr%3D%26sa%3DN

Although it might help a little, I don't think an AN wrench has a big advantage over a normal open-ended wrench. Especially since it doesn't take a lot of tightening to get AN fittings/hoses to seal properly. Usually it just takes getting the fitting/hose snug plus 3/4-1 turn more.

the only benifit i know is that they're usually wider, and softer, so you dont scratch up the fitting as easily.

also, if you notice, most A/N wrenchs are more "stubby" styled compared to their regular counterpart to help prevent over tightening.

You can also get copper versions at any heating supply company, lot cheaper, and you do not pay for the differant color alum.
