safely spraying a 200 shot
hey everyone, due to some unforeseen cercumstances... i am having to get rid of my SS...
but over the summer i plan to get a z28 and probly buy a higher mileage one and swap out the engine for another low mileage ls1 and rebuild the tranny and give it a 12 bolt. my question for you nitrous people is what would i need in order to safely (and by safely i mean spray whenever i want, without worrying about anything) run a 200 shot on it? i was planning on getting the Cold Fusion Kit 'CFN-LS1PRO'. does anyone know what i would need to safely run this at this high of power and what it would cost? im just trying to get an idea here, thanks!

The first step would be to make sure that the fuel system was up to par for the shot size. It wouldn't be a bad idea to run a progressive controller to help keep the strain off the stock bottom end. A lot of the controllers have a window switch built in, so your killing two birds with 1 stone. Our Edge controller has an A/F switch on it, so if you start to go lean it'll shut down the nitrous.

i'd run a windowswitch and a direct portsetup oh diffrent plugs too....thats all i have and i plan on getting up to a 200 shot...although i plan on slowly working up to that stage and working on my tune for each setting. i might just end up at 150 then do a 50 dry shot for a second stage though...not sure yet but 200 shot will be a deffinate

On a budget Id just do the progressive controler so the hit isnt so hard and lower TQ spikes. and for sure a fuel pump. you could just stay with a 150 shot like importpatrole said and not have to worry about much at all.

The dedicated (Standalone) is probably the only way to run a shot higher then 150H.P. safely. And the safety factor on Nitrous is only as good as the work you put into the tune. Always remember too that with the added
power comes a greater chance of finding the weak spot in your car.

This my second season doing 150wet on stock bottom end. went through like 12 10lbs bottles last year. Have a pump, tune with 26 degrees total advance, window set at 3400. I just want it to hold up this summer then maybe build a motor if i have to.
I agree with everyone on the fuel pump upgrade. You probly want the little stuff too, like the fuel press safty switch, and the window switch. I run a 150 shot on my stock bottom end all day long, comes on at 3400 and off at 6500. If you want to do it safely I would start out with 100 shot on the dyno and run a scanner. Checked your A/F and make sure you are not getting Knock. Then work your way to 200 and see what it does.
Good Luck

I wanna get a 100-150 shot wet or dry...I plan on getting a WOT and window switch starting at 2nd gear, and of course remote botle opener and bottle heater...BUT what should i get to start off with..wet or dry? I realize i will need a new fuel pump, or maybe a separate one, possibly new plugs if i go 150....but what should i get, 100-150 shot wet or dry?????
P.s. I have 94' Z28 with a rebuilt LT1 with 57k miles since rebuild
