Default Blown Up Ls1????

so....i purchased a zex wet kit a few months ago....what a fun time that gave me at the track....with a 125 shot it was doing 7.60's in the 1/8 on street tires....so i got a little greedy and went with a 150 shot.....wow what a difference....only droped a tenth....but it felt great....so right after that run the car was running a litthe rough... i took it home and pulled the plugs (tr6's) and put back in the factory gapped plugs...that that would fix the problem....i totally ignored the slightly rough idle.....i even continued racing all motor on the streets thinking nothing was wrong....so i was bored and did a compression test today(months later) and found only 75psi in cyl3!!!! 150psi in all the others.... so i did a wet compression test to see if it would change anything.... and then compression test results rocked to 115psi....a sign of damanged piston??? rings??? any ideas on what went soo wrong??? i also removed my throttle body and found un usual amounts of oil in the intake.....????

that sucks. Very likely it is rings. if your "lucky" your car would be running hot, then it could have just blown the head gasket, but it doesnt sound good... sorry to hear that.

Sounds familiar...

have you changed your oil and inspected for foreign material? The unusual amount of oil in the intake is indicative of extreme blow-by... which is usually a result of broken rings or piston (busted ringland).

I'd go ahead and venture to say you have a broken ringland which has also taken out the rings.

You really need to pull the head to check for scarring of the cylinder wall, and then from there you will have to proceed from there... whether you just pop a new piston in, rebuild the shortblock, or rebuild an entire new shortblock.

.
I agree that it may be a broken ringland, if he's making the implication that the nitrous is the cause of the problem the broken ringland would be the most probable scenario.

Hmm, 75PSI.... I'd be happy with that. I did a compression check on my #5 Cylinder and it had 30PSI so I was bummed... Short story long, I pulled almost everything apart and moving it over to my forged bottom end. Sad thing is with that cylinder blown I still made 380 RWHP. Crazy. Same cause... Nitrous. As the quotes say if you wanna spray, you gotta pay.

Did you have an aftermarket fuel pump? I am about to spray 150 NX wet on my car.

A window switch would be more appropriate on a M6 car with a stock rev limiter. Turn the spray off before the limiter. I doubt a FPSS would have saved you with hitting the rev limiter as it just starts cutting fuel to alternating individual cylinders, not the whole system (therefore you're fuel pressure would still be adequate at the rail)

The stock pump is good to 440-460rwhp. I used to run a 75 shot on my old cam only setup (410rwhp on motor) and it did fine. Then I swapped out to a walbro intank and ran a 200 shot.

yeah, like everybody said, ringlands.luckily #3 is far enough up front that if the hole isn't too scored, you can run a ball hone and drop in a new piston.
