I want to buy the best kit, but it's confusing when new products seem to come out all the time. Would the best decision be to buy a proven kit or wait to buy some of the newer products. I really liked the TNT F1, but then people were pushing the NX kits. Guess you can't go wrong either way. What about Nitro Dave's new plate setup? Any recommendations for me?

That's what i understand. My rev limiter is set at 6700. I'm most likely gonna have to switch from the 4.11's to 3.73's so I'll trap in 4th. Correct?

 

yeah thats a good idea, you could try a 3.90 as well.

 

There are many systems and brands on the market. Through my years of experience and hands on knowledge of tearing apart system after system. I have came to prefer the overall quality and completeness of the NX systems. This is why we use there base system to build our plate system off of. The system comes with our plate,NX 300 hp lifetime warrentysolenoids with purge port desighn,quick release bottle brackets, and there 45 bottle valve. This kit is the one I favor most. It cost 650.00.

We really like the plate from Nitro Daves. They look very nice, they're easy to install, and the power they make it awesome. That and Dave has great customer service. It's a tough combo to beat.

 

Thanks Dave, I'll contact you shortly. I guess I should stay away from looking at TNT putting down big numbers as reason to buy their kit. Does TNT have lifetime warranty on their noids?

 

TNT Makes a good system. Big number are just a jet change away. If you look at there jetting compared to NX for example. You will see taht they are using more nitrous to make the bigger HP claims. Do not get caught up i the number game. Back when we use to carry TNT products they did not offer a lifetime warrenty on there solenoids. However if you sent it in they would rebuild them for the price of parts.

Do a search on our plate system also. There are some good right ups on it.

Well I guess you could look at it like that, but with new info on the table.. Check out the nozzle comparison in the sticky thread, with the same jetting in our nozzle vs competition it made more power "excluding Dynotune" due to nozzle design.. Now we do use a jetting that is .003 larger than some others but we also run our kits @900psi.. So really when other brands reccomend 1050psi they arnt that far off and in some cases the "exact" same in nitrous consumption.. I wouldent base it just on numbers but look at the parts you are getting and what they are made of, and you can make your own decision.. Also to answer your question on the sol, we dont offer the "lifetime warranty" but we rebuild the sol free of charge and usually the only thing that would go wrong with a sol is the piston which we charge $19 for.. The way I have allways looked at it from the a racers stand point is, say you buy a set of "Brand X" heads and they work great for years but one day you over rev the engine and drop a valve, is that the "brand X" heads fault or your own? So the only way you can ruin a sol is to allow debris into it to hang the sol open so it would need a new piston $19 " all TNT kits have nitrous filters included to prevent this" and just leaving it on for a couple of mins straight, which cause the coil to burn up $29 to fix.. Btw in my oppinion if you offer a good product you shouldent have to say anything about the others.. Thanks David@TNT

 

I see. So, all is relative I suppose. I think both kits look great and both kits are equally liked. Guess you cannot go wrong either way. I'm just concerned about the power ring not fitting correctly as I've heard.

David@TNT, no offense, but look back at the nozzle shootout, you need to. There has been a nice conversation about the test parameters and the minute differences in power, basically lays to waste the claim of "ANY" company saying their kit makes more power etc... and if you want to argue the pressure vs jets and power output vs nitrous consumption I posted the chart that shows how much nitrous was used to achieve the stated results. Either way TNT didnt shine in any area. Close sure, enough to say its equal to Brand "X" yes. This is kind of like saying something about other companies products!

The info posted above is in case David missed it. It the power per .25oz of nitrous consumed. Looks to me like Shark, SHO, Vortech and Ny-trex kicked some *** comparitively Lest not forget, I am not sure the weights were taken post purge, so if not, the length of the purge could have effected this graph as well, just like the nozzle results minor deviation themselves. What does it mean? Take it anyway you want, bottom line, all the kits have their own perks and some have less than others (personally I like reliable customer service, someone who answers the phone, emails and pm's rather then a desk-phone jockey giving me the address to ship parts off to for repair!).


On a plus note, I like the fact TNT includes a nice filter, where some only have the small nitrous solenoid screen (industry standards need to be raised). It would be nice to see a dedicated filter included in all kits from all companies, and then you could always do a $35 credit if someone is upgrading if you felt it necessary.

 

Any and all arguments aside, I'm still on the fence.

 

sdiddy... Its really a personal choice, just like anything there is brand loyalty. I prefer NX (mostly Nitrous Daves to be specific) and Matt from HSW. The two are different companies, different people with their own mission, but when I talk with either of them I get the same treatment, answers and repsect. Robert56 is also a very knoweldgable guy and a dealer, just never bought anything from him. Customer service is by far and large the one thing you will always see topics like this come back to. Other than this topic, I havent seen David@ TNT on here in I dont know how long.....David its nice of you to step in and offer up info, dont get me wrong. some people get turned off at the "pressure" technique nitrous sales has taken on these forums, but this is an extremely competitive market. In the FI section there are few vendors...most carrying the same product, so the choices there are somewhat easier. Here you have some distinct differences, different brands (mostly the parts are made at the same large company, then labeled to match seller) and different preferences dry vs wet, and it becomes more cut-throat. So, as mentioned, I would rely on customer service first and foremost. Which sponsor makes you feel comfortable that when you have a question they will be there to answer? Which is closest in case you need them to check your setup out? What warranty do you prefer? GL and luckily no one in here can really help you more than that right there.

Thanks cat3. I want to do it right the 1st time and try to prevent mistakes from happening. I've been reading through many posts here getting great info and pretty much have it narrowed down to exactly what I want.

 

Well, if your looking for a smaller shot system a single nozzle works great. Dry works great as well. Plates are very nice, I like them more than the single or dual nozzle designs out. Then there is the MAF from NX, unparalelled really, followed by the rings which a few places have, TNT, HSW, Nitrous Daves, HPE etc.. I had an HPE and the fitment drove me nuts. A little moding to it and it would have been awesome. However in the wet field, I think the Plates are going to become the "standard" for the common user. Options are open, doors of opportunity are wide and unlocked, take advantage of all the info and components you can.

Personally, I wouldn't worry about that nozzle test too much. As long as each system makes the advertised HP at a safe A/F ratio, why worry about what jet's are in there. Every jet and nozzle is designed to work a little differently. Then when you consider the inconsistancy in a chassis dyno, the numbers really don't mean much. Just my opinion.

I would recommend the plate systems from Nitro Daves like Mike said. They install nicely, they look nice, and they make great power. And like Mike said, Dave has great customer service.
