Default New to Nitrous

First let me start out by telling you what I have, 2002 Z28 w/6speed, TReX V.2 cam from thunder racing, crane dual valve spring kit w/ Ti retainers, pacesetter LT's w/ true dual exhaust and a whisper lid. I bought a NX EFI kit from a buddy of mine who had to sell it and I am wondering what all I need to do hook it up and make it safe. Also what power level should I cap at?

Thanks in Advance

You will want a window switch, fuel pressure switch, WOT switch (should come with kit), upgraded fuel pump, NGK TR6 glugs gapped @.038. These are the basics to stay safe. I would start with a 75 shot and if it all works OK switch jets and shoot 150.

Do not try to shortcut by not doing the colder plugs, they are NEEDED. Stock heat range plugs can easily melt with nitrous and this can destroy your engine. Be sure to swap to the colder plugs.

Other good things to have are a bottle heater and remote botrtle opener.

You can run TR6 plugs NA with no issues at all. I run them and sometimes go a lot of miles without spraying. They always look fine when I finally replace them. You might lose 1-2 HP NA by using TR6's, barely even noticable

1-2HP....That could mean the difference between a wheelie or not. Thanks brad, i already order the tr55 from summit but i will just send them back and run the TR6's since i plan on using the go fast juice in the near future.

You can pick up both TR55's and TR6's from Advanced or AutoZone.

Copper TR6's are less than $2 each, maybe they were giving you the price for irridiums.

While we're talking about noob nitrous questions, I've got one regarding timing. My N/A tune, my timing is only at either 25 or 26 degrees. If I want to add in a 100-125 wet shot over the winter, should I retune with the timing backed off a bit? Or since its fairly low now, is that needed?

Your timing is OK for that size shot. You can pull some if you want to be super safe, no need to though.

Most people like the racetronix kit. It has a walbro 255 pump with a hot wire harness for the pump to ensure it always gets full voltage to the pump. It is extremely reliable for the added fuel needs for nitrous.

As long as you arent over a 150 shot and you can run 93 octane you can leave the timing alone. Once again, to be extra safe you can pull a little timing though. I pribably would come down to 26-27
