Default Should I up the Shot???

Hey guys ive been seriously contemplating on upping the shot on my 00 ss. The car already has a 224 cam, valvesprings, retainers, timing chain. The tranny has been fully rebuilt along with a new clutch. Right now the car has a 125 wet shot. For safety i have a rpm switch set at 3000 on and 6000 off, and a full throttle switch too. I have the stock fuel system, and a stock bottom end for that matter. The car as it sits makes 466 rwhp and 525 rwtq. Kinda low because of the stock exhaust manifolds, and the stock ls1 intake. I know most would say to just do the headers and the manifold and call it quits but I really cant afford that because of having my tranny rebuild done. I also just saw what Matt from harris speed works posted about the stock bottom end ls1 with a 2 stage setup, one wet, one dry, making over 600hp. Iam not nesscesarily looking for that much, but just a little more kick in the *** if you know what i mean. My question is should i do a second stage dry kit, up the shot on my already existant wet kit, or just leave it alone. If i do the second stage kit should i upgrade the fuel pump along with using a progressive controler?? Thanks for any imput.

to post to your inquire it would be no problem but you first stage should be your dry and then the second should be the wet. and for you second inquire just fatten the wet kit up to help the injectors with the dry kit, and it would not be a bad idea to put a intake 255 pump to help the wet kit out. but it can be very easly done and shouldn't give you any problems. just make shure your AFR is safe.

I run a dual stage 150 dry with 75-100 wet but I use the 125 fuel jets. Just make sure it's setup right and the ARF is good all the way to 6000 and you should be fine.

Just remember, if you can't afford headers you can't afford a new bottom end or rearend.

Up the nitrous to 150 or 175 but definately do the intank pump first and get it on the dyno with a wideband and a good tuner

I agree, lack of fuel will KILL pretty much any setup - my fuel pump let out mid pass on 9psi last year and popped a ringland and killed another piston taking chunks out of the top from detionation.

Car was tuned to be 11.0:1, it just goes to show that a few hundred dollars on a fuel pump can save you thousands in other parts.

Ok I think Iam going to up it. But besides using a ractronix pump should I get a progrssive controller? Oh yeah anyone know what jets would equal a 175 wet shot?

Definitely upgrade your fuel pump. I don't know if you've ever checked your injector duty cycle, but I'd be suprised if they're not maxed out at WOT. With a stock bottom and rear end a progressive controller would help as well. Good luck!

Maxed out duty cycle with a wet shot? I kind of doubt it unless the rail pressure is dropping a lot under spray

I don't mean because of his wet shot. I'm just saying with a stock fuel pump and his cam + other mods, he probably has his injectors about maxed out. I have a fairly mild setup and my stock injectors were maxed. Personally I wouldn't feel comfortable with a large wet or dry kit on the stock pump. Just my .02...

I already also said upgrading the fuel pump would be a really good idea, and I think checking the car out with a wideband would also be a good idea
