Ok, what about the 4l60E, what can that hold? My car is stock except for a lid. So my engine can hold a 200 shot with a good tune but will my tranny blow up or what about the stock 10 bolt?. Please help. I'm planning to buy a nitrous kit in the next month but if I can't spray a 125 or 150 w/out having to worry about my tranny or rear end its kinda pointless.

Not really something anybody can simpy *answer*....I've seen 10 bolts hold a 150 shot right out of the hole, on ET Streets (in a stalled automatic) and I've seen them let go on stock auto's with a 100 shot. Same for the trans. If you spray through the shifts though, you're gonna significantly decrease the likely hood of it lasting (the trans)

That makes since, I guess I just gotta spray and pray, lol or spray and pay. I plan on a window switch so I wont be spraying though the gears.

One way to find out, lol. I would get that timing down more and you should live for awhile, also TR 9's would be a good idea. Run it with lower timing and colder plug, and then read them at the end of the run to see where your at. it's all in the tune at this point, but it could go anytime, even on the 250.

Its for sure a time bomb! But it has lived for a while im starting to get skeered the pistons beeing my main concern and im sure the rods soon after im just hittin it all at once, got to be a shock in the bottom end. I think ill leave the 300 alone and buy a rotating assy. before it takes a hate to ruin a good block....

Honestly every engine/tranny/rear end is built the same but they have different capabilities, most of the performance and reliablity factor is going to come down to how the specific part is tuned, (escept axle of course) before everyone and their brother with a semi stock engine tries to run even a 150 shot, they should atleast try to beef up the components before they spray. While it is possible to take a bone stock z28 down the track spraying a 125shot with no problems, theres no reason not to first install a shift kit, get a programmer or a good tune, intake/exhaust, and of course watch your timing as that can make it or litterally break it...honestly I would do most bolt ons and minor stuff to any engine before spraying. People think because it is the best bang for the buck you can buy, that every vehicle can handle it and that the absolutely need it. You should be serious about using nitrous and gradually step it up to see what your comonents can handle, same thing Robert is doing.. gradually, hopefully you can hear your engine start ticking and let off while your using a smaller shot instead of just hearing a boom. Anyways just my $.02

How much would you safely spray with stock computer tuning using a dry kit.

Your first limiting factor running a dry hit is your injectors. Check my web site for injector sizing, and some other insights into the dry hit. On my bonestock LS6, we were able to get to 480rwhp with 28lb'ers. Now could someone else, well you would have to log certain parameters to find out for certain. Most will agree with the 28s that 100/125 is about the limit, though we pushed it farther.

Would that be a 125 fwhp or rwhp.

Better yet what's the max jet size?

That would be rwhp. Now what's the max that you can run safely, not sure. Every combo is a little different, so I would suggest some logging with a wb to see where your at as you move up.

So a dual .042 jet would be cool correct?

I do have a 255 lph fuel pump, but besides the headers and ported TB the rest is stock

Where is the ideal location for the jets on a dry setup?

I don't have the stock air box, I have a long tube with the air filter up front by the fog light hole.

I also have a 1998 which I understand has a little bit bigger injector than some of the other years.

OK, I've only posted on this site more than three thousand six hundred times over the last six or seven years, so I'm a beginner here.

What I will observe is this; the "SEARCH" function here SUKS!

I use it occassionaly, but realize it is almost useless!

So what do you guys think...
1999 stock shortblock 22K miles
Port heads 10.8:1 Compression
227/230 554/575 112 cam
90/90 FAST
255 Walbo intake stock lines and rail
Hooker LT
Built M6 SEC 3+
Moser 12 bolt
all the other boltons
switching to HP tuners real soon
I have a TNT kit with 150 pills now, will I be safe to go with the 200 HP pills or even the 250 HP pills, with a good tune of course and proper timing????
What timing should I be at with 150 pills? 200 pills? 250 pills?

Thanks Art
