This reminds me of the powder coating thread. Do you know if the bottle has been Pwder coated? It Has an NOS high flow valve on it which makes me think it may have changed colors. Anyway this is what can happen if the bottles are over heated.

A cylinder that has been exposed to temperatures great enough to change the temper of the cylinder could show an increase in total or permanent expansion as measured during hydrostatic testing. Cylinders showing unusually high total expansion or exceeding the regulatory limits for the relationship of permanent expansion to total expansion (i.e. DOT = 10% and TC = 6%) should be condemned.
It would be intresting to see if the bottle had been over heated. I wouldn't expect to see expansion like that on a bottle before the saftey would go off.

wow, you're lucky it didn't blow. I forgot to pull the bottle out of my car saturday night and didn't remember until sunday at work. Mine pegged too, luckily I got it out of the car and into the dealership before it blew. However it still blew INSIDE of the dealership. I definitely feel you on that florida heat.

Mine is set at 3000 psi
