Should the nitro dave plate system make a noise?

OK, so here's my theory on it. It ususally happens at low rpm with partial throttle, which creates a vibration in the engine. Even though the plate is tight against the rubber gasket and no air is leaking(I checked mine thoroughly) there is still the slightest gap between the plate itself and the throttle body, enough to make a high pitched hum with the vibration.
Like I said, it doesn't bother me. It's sort of amusing and foreboding, like a rattlesnake shaking it's tail just to let you know it's there.

well i am glad you guys posted these findings up, but geeeeeez it ticks me off. last week after a heads/cam intake/dave's plate...nx kit swap, i took my car to the dyno shop to get tuned. well after we got the injectors lined out.... we started to hear the plate.....which we thought for sure was a vaccume leak. my first thought was to take the plate off and see what happens.....didn't have the shorter bolts with me that would be for the throttle body with out the plate. so we had to put it back on. long story short my car didn't get completely tuned, pending me fixing the (vaccume leak) after i trailored it an hour to the shop. now i have no trailor, and the car still won't idle. sucks. wish i had known about this sooner.

I have heard throttle body spacers and cold air kits cause a whistling sound also. Ofcourse its no big deal...
I know its to late now but you could have easily checked for a vacumme leak by spraying soapy water or carb cleaner around the throttle body. This would have taken a few seconds and would have told you if there were a actual vacume leak... Im suprised the shop did not suggest it.

Came across this while surfing for a how too on changing fuel injectors.

It's not a "whistle". It's a high pitched vibration noise, like you took a vibrator and held it against a tuning fork (don't ask how I came up with that analogy!).
... and no, it's not all 2001's. My car is a '99 and I've got the "noise".
