If the converter is made for nitrous, meaning it the nitrous doesnt push thru the stall point you can get away with it. If it wasn't built for nitrous, you could very well blow by the 4400rpm stall and place an added stress on everything.

I used to run a PT4400 with a stock tranny and a 150 hit. I ran it for about two years before the tranny let go. I sprayed off the line and through all the shifts, worked great for me, but I think I was lucky, it's not the norm.

A 4400 converter with a 2.8 stall ration is too much for a stock tranny and nitrous. Either you will blow the tranny, spin the tires, or it will flash the converter too high. I have a stock tranny and it has a Fuddle 4000 nitrous converter in it with a 2.2 Stall ratio. The tranny is still alive but barely. It has a hard time shifting to third gear under WOT even when the nitrous is off. I have a window switch and I don't spray through the shifts. It is just a matter of time before the tranny goes.

I would like to know that too. I plan on spraying a 100 shot and I dont want my tranny to take a dump.

well im not too sure about the fuddle stalls... no offense. im sure there are people that dont like tci.

but if a 3500-3800 ssf tci with a 2.5- 2.6 str can handle it, why not my 4400?

All you can do is try it. Keep the shot to 100hp this first time though. It may just blow through the stall and you will be on the rev limiter quick.

runnin that big of a stall and nitrous will make your tranny a ticking time bomb. some people get lucky but you might as well get a new one now if you have the money and not have to worry aobut it

4000 stall, stock tranny, stock suspension, stock motor.
100 shot many times w/ 1.5 60's
You'll prolly blow through the 4400, but, there's only one way to find out

There is no disadvantage at all. If you only plan on doing the converter once, and you plan on spraying in the future, then you answered your own question. Make sure you get a good flexplate also because nitrous can make you greedy.

It's all a game of chance. My GM transmission of 21,000 miles last a whole 20-25 minutes after my H/C swap and a Yank 3800 stall. All I'm saying is the chance of it not tearing up are slim to none, but there are some "miracles" out there, as stated above.

My experiance of spray and converters is as follows:

PI Single Disc 3600 - Flashed to 4200 on a 150 dry hit. Worked VERY well on the street and the track. Mine boiled over stuck in the snow in the winter, and that was the end of the trans.

A friend's Yank SS4000 only lasted a few months with a 150 hit, bolt ons, LS6 cam. Worked very well street and track.

Another friend was stock with a TCI SSF3500 and worked the same as my PI with a dry 150 hit as well. He went through a few transmissions.

If you want a 4400 stall, have it specifically built for nitrous. The added torque of nitrous inherently bumps the stall speed higher.

What was your rev limiter set at and what rpms were you shifting at? I also have a PT 4400 and I want to use N2o But from what I keep hearing, when you spray on a converter like that you will flash way past your stall and hit your rev limiter. Keep in mind that I dont want to spray any higher than a 100 shot.
