I dont use the stuff but the appeal for me would be the fact that it can be turned off at will. Meaning you dont have the extra wear on the engine all the time. Also it's cool to feel like your getting away with something when you smoke someone on the street because nitrous is very stealthy.

my old motor was a forged 346ci hosing 300 worth of bottle. i felt that i had reached the maximum limit of spraying "safely" on a 346ci motor. So i decided to tear the motor down and start w/ a new project.

I'll be able to make "safe" power into the 900+ range w/ the new FI setup.

414ci motor plus 300-400 worth of hose or 414ci motor w/ 88mm turbo?? you make the choice

that being said, i street race alot, and i always hated having to make sure my bottle pressure was up and ready to go 24/7. it'll be nice to have the power there at all times now. on a 300+ shot a 10 or 15lb bottle doesnt last long

I ask this because I was just about to do the N20 thing but realized that after I fill 7 bottles thats $800. that only 4-5 outings not including steet fun.
So why why why I want to know????

I think that should stir the **** for the night

for me:
the cost of the twin turbo setup by APS (was $10K + install) to give me about 525rwhp
compared to what I'm doing (which isn't anywhere near the cheepest no2 install.
Cam, LT's, Tune = 400-425 rwhp
direct port (nxl kit) with all the goodies, digital dual window switch, fpss, remote bottle opener, custom switch plate, blow down, bottle warmer, ect, ect... parts and labor for everything around $4K
with the same end result (500-525rwhp) which is still the limit of my drive train

Lower up-front investment with nitrous. Don't street race, so "always there" is not needed (car is no slouch off the bottle anyway). Go to the track and run mid 9's with no whine or whistles - stealthier IMO.

yea i spent 1k on my nitrous system and every thing else is BONE stock on my 01' Z06 and ran 11.40@127.5mph 150 shot. i dont think u can beat that bang for the buck!!! It cost me $32.00 to fill the bottle form empty.... yea that really hurts the pocket book

next time

because my stock bottom end is up to 698rwhp on pump gas and has been over 600 for 2 yrs..

show me a boosted car with those results and minimal investment..

oh and nitrous only costs me 1.62 a pound

If you approximately double that figure you are close to getting on the road with the most basic FI kit that makes decent power

as a lover of forced induction i must say.....

someone has never truly priced the cost of forced induction... and that same someone has a false impression of the cost of bottle refills... lol.

Here is something that is very interesting. We have a thread going on what's the worlds fastest bone stock long block ls6 with any power adder. This right here will answer your question on why some would go nitrous.

World Record LS6/M12 with any power adder
Robert56 10.8 Dry Nitrous
World Record LS6/Auto with any power adder
mightymike 10.7 Dry Nitrous

Remember this is any power adder, turbo(s), blower, nitrous wet/dry and/or multi.
Watch for a thread I will do on this, with links and more cars that submitted, and plenty of boosted cars submitted, but fell short. Are ya guys starting to feel the Dry.
Robert

top ten reasons
#10 money
#9 money
#8 hmm money
#7 can install in a short period of time
#6 Many companies to choose parts and tech from
#5 its just cool scaring your freinds
#4 You can not put a blower and turbo together. Nitrous works with either or.
#3 change hp for 10 bucks, ( blower pulleys cost $$$)
#2 you do not have to worry about cooking anything with the heat build up.
And the #1 reason to
huge white plumbs in the air

I own both and have played with all 4 types of power adders. Nitrous is the best cheapest way to get into the performance market. Good quaility wet (caugh caugh) and dry kits on the market, allow someone to install, have fun, and not have to go to the dyno for reasonable power levels.

Turbos welcome tunning and all its little glitches,
Cent. Blowers, belts throwing, head units overhauling.
Root blowers, **** that hoods got to go.
And nitrous what nitrous I am not running nitrous.

Ricky.

it is easer to hustle people w/ nitrous, and nitrous has more of a "COOL" factor IMO over turbo and supercharger, turbo being second, and super 3rd.
