Default newbie to nitrous, a few questions (read the stickys already)

i've read up a little on nitrous and have a pretty good idea of how it works and the affects of it on an engine (i.e. hotter exhaust temps, more violent combustion, cooler intake charge, etc.). what i'm wanting to know is what shot should i start off with (75 is what i had in mind); how will it affect the rest of my driveline if i let it shift under spray(4L60E, stock rear, stock driveshaft), and what is the best way to set it up? the kit i have is an NOS dry shot with two solenoids and it has to hoses that mount up on each side of the airbox and i'm gonna run a micro-switch off of the throttle body. I don't have a bottle or bottle heater yet so i'm open to suggetions. all my mods are in my sig... thanks for any and all help guys!!!

I don't know much about dry kits but i do know you tranny will be okay for a bit, but when it comes to NOS you really never know. I spray 100 wet shot on a stock tranny, and driveline, and no problems yet. For best runs i would spray on a full bottle that is where you will get best performance. Do you have a nitrous pressure gauge? if so the best temp is 900-1000 but every kit is different. Your best bet is to sell the dry kit and get a wet kit

75-100 dry shot is pretty easy on your car. As for your trans.. it isn't a good idea to shoot through the shifting. It will work ok, but could shorten the life of your tranny. Look at some of the vendors on here and pull together some $$$ for a window switch. A Fuel pressure safety switch is also a very good idea. The window switch will shut off the N2o automatically when the car shifts. (you set up the rpms on and off). 3000 start, 5800 off. The FPSS will shut off the system if your fuel pressure drops.
The placement of your nozzles is important. Look through the threads.

Nice to see someone else from Los Lunas. How long have you had your bird? I might have seen you.

I would be careful if your pushing over 100shot. I liked my wet kit and I had it set up to 100-150 hp jets pending how jazzy i was feeling. I like wet kits more than dry.

Nitro Dave's got a nice trick window switch that has the wide open throttle switch built in (save's you from having to install the micro switch on the throttle), as well as a multi-gear lockout (you probably don't want to spray in first gear). I wish I had seen it before I got mine all set up. A fuel pressure safety switch is also required, unless you go with a controller that has air/fuel shutoff, if it goes lean.
As far as the shot, any additional spray on your mods is going to require a tune. You might as well go with 100 shot and get a good tune.
Lot's of folks will step up to help, so just keep asking questions if you're unsure about anything. If you do it right, you'll have a blast and shouldn't have any problems.

Good luck!

i have a friend who sprayed a 125 shot on a stock ls1 and had a mds window switch, wot switch and a bottle heater. if i was you i would not spray through the shifts, very bad idea on the 4l60e. start off with a 100 and move up. there is many many many people spraying a 200 on a stock ls1 (which still amazes me) and they will tell you to go up on the shot but i think you will be content with a 100-125. dont forget the plugs (ngk tr6). like said before you can get kits from any vendor on this site for a great price and all of them are reliable and great people to do business with, if you have any question about a kit you can call them and they arent afraid to give you answers. good luck and keep us updated.

hey guys thanks for all the replies! zo6vette037 i have had my bird for about a year and six months, it's got the majectic emerald paint job(changes green to blue and purple), chrome 16 inch rims... you would probably hear me before you saw me... those true duals are pretty loud. what about you? not very many Z06s around los lunas, whats yours look like? anyways thanks for all the help guys. i think i'm gonna start off with a small dry shot and if i like it i'll invest in a wet kit. i was concerned about the tansmission, mainly the aluminum driveshaft, cause i've heard some horror stories and even seen the driveshafts breaking in magazine articles (gm high tech i think). is a window switch harder to install than a microswitch? what about suggestions on everything else i need (bottle, heater, pressure guage, etc.) thanks again everone for all the help!!!
