Switch question

The switch that came with my kit (and the ones that I bought) have 3 prongs on the back. The directions to my HSW kit show what to do with each of these prongs. One goes to the micro switch, one to ground and another to 12+(12volt source?). The back of the switches that I bought are labeled Line, Load, Neutral. Am I correct in saying Line-micro switch. Load-12v source. Neutral-ground. ?

Also while I was digging around I found a few switches that might make for a cleaner install. The thing is with these though, they only have 2 prongs on the back. Can I use these?

Line-12v, load-switch, other is ground.

You can use those switches provided they are rated for 10amps minimum. The downside is that the system is not "grounded" when not in use. It's just a safety precaution.

I'm not sure if they're able to handle that. Theres no markings on em whatsoever

anyone know of a site that has a bunch of switches? maybe i can find mine on there and look up the specs.

Your local auto parts store and RadioShack both carry assortments of 12V switches. Be careful with some of the smaller narrow switches, those tend to wear out and break over time. Also look into buying a fuseable link for some of your connections, it wires in right before the switch and will blow in the event a switch shorts out, which I have seen happen and it fried an entire wire bundle. I recommend a trip to the auto parts store just to look around.

I found a bunch on ebay that are exactly like the ones used in Beer's panels. ( I now have a 'Beer' panel and added a switch instead of purge button). Just make sure of the current rating. Some switches just say "125v" which means nothing.

Good call on that one Beer, I just remembered that Walmart has many of the same switches as the autoparts store but CHEAPER. Sometimes even $1 cheaper for a $4 switch.
